Almost Mrs. Smith
Super January 2011

SWR- I'm SO happy, but at the same time I think I'm gonna have a sad cry...

Almost Mrs. Smith, on July 9, 2010 at 12:48 PM Posted in Planning 0 17

So... my FH is working at a call center here called NEW. He's one of the people who give tech support for Direct TV. The pay is decent, and he likes it alright, but he's only been working there until he can get a job at Les Schwab. He's worked at one for 2 years before we met, and the pay is awesome, and he LOVES it!

Well... he got a call from them today! They want to interview him! It would be a really great thing for our finances! (He loves it cause the work really tones him up!)

Here's the part that makes me want to cry... FH has facial hair... all around his face he keeps full facial hair... beard, mustache, and all... well... I HATE it when he shaves it. He's got a baby face, and a round face, and I HATE it.

If he gets this Les Schwab job he'll have to keep it shaved every day. This includes for our wedding pictures. I really am gonna hate if he works there and has to be all baby-faced for our wedding pictures. I hate it.

I know that sounds SUPER shallow, or mean, or whatever... but I love my scruffy man! I think he looks super handsome with his scruffy beard, and all... it's how I met him, and how I fell in love wit him, and I feel like that's how we should get married.

Awe but yaya for a good job Smiley laugh. I feel the same way though my FS has a weak chin so to speak..kind of looks like a turtle when there is nothing there and when he has to shave it for a job I get so sad because he looks like a little turle and I love his chin hair LOL.

Maybe for fun in one of your pics he can have a fake beard and you a mustache..it would be cute Smiley smile

Aw I know how you feel. My FS has always had facial hair but he has to save it every once in awhile for work too. I told him he MUST have it for the wedding. heh.

That's how I feel... I told him he MUST have it for the wedding... but if he gets this job there's not a chance. He'll be shaved smooth. He's texting me asking me if it's okay, and if I'll be okay with it...

I had to buck up and tell him this is bigger than a beard! He has to take the interview.

Hehe.... my FH looks way younger when he shaves too... I love to scratch his scruffiness, it feels good under my finger nails... he shaves it pretty short but not so he's really smooth... and he'll probably keep a little bit for the wedding... but you are right to buck up, if it's a job he really loves and the pay is good, it will be way better then his beard!

I can't totally relate because I hate facial hair. LOL. BUT, off topic, NEW has been okay? We have one here which is why I'm asking.

I feel the same way! I love my guy when he's scruffy. Mmm. Hahhaa. He needs to shave for work in the morning but he's always got just a slight 5 o'clock shadow by the time he comes home. :]

Yeah, so fare he REALLY likes it. I think it depends though. I had an ex-boyfriend who was only 19 then... he was working for Abby's pizza, and then got a job at NEW. He quit before the training was up and said that he'd rather roll pizza dough.

You have to have a low temper. People yell at the FH and cuss him out, and get pissy... and you just have to hold it together and try to fix the problem.

FH is VERY mild tempered, I don't think I've ever seen him flat out mad before. So, he just lets it roll off his back, and doesn't bring it home from work... he likes it just fine.

I know EXACTLY how you feel! When FH worked at Slaveway (Safeway Grocery Store) he had to keep it all shaved, and I didn't like it as much =0(

He was on medical leave since June of '09 and I was excited that he got to grown out his facial hair! But then right before our Anniversary and Christmas, he went back to work for ONE day! so he shaved it all off, and I was all sad about it, I seriously cried. I know, I'm lame lol.

But I'm right there with you!! Now they screwed up his job and he gets to look like a hobo all the time because he doesn't want to even trim it! lol. But anyway!

Does he grow it fast?? FH can grow it back in less than a week! So that's always been beneficial...

Oh & I used to H.A.T.E. facial hair too! and long hair... until I met FH =0)

I'm not sure... I've only seen him without it shaved once, and that was before we were even talking and such. That's when he was still just my best friend's brother. lol. I don't remember how fast it grew in... just that I hated it. lol.

What's Les Schwab? Do you think maybe they'll be lenient for just a week or two for the wedding?

It's a tire company here on the west coast. They are very strict. You have to work even if you're puking your guts up. Unless you're bleeding out... you should be at work, or you're fired. We'll be lucky if the let him take a full week for our honeymoon. They also will not be lenient. Not even a little. It's a strict dress code. They have uniforms and everything.

The thing that makes it easier to "buck up" on this one is the fact that the pay is better. This way we might be able to try for a baby sooner than we planned. I had originally wanted to wait a full year before even trying... but I'm SO baby crazy these days, I'm not sure I want to wait at all!

I know how you feel on a slightly smaller scale- my fiance has a little chin beard (as evidenced by my picture), and i HATE when he shaves it- he has a very boyish face, so i feel weird when his face is all smooth. plus, he gets a beard tan line, which is equal parts hilarious and awkward, so i always just tell him to keep the beard. Smiley smile
