Sweetheart Neckline

DoggoMom, on May 6, 2016 at 11:35 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 26

I swore I would never do a strapless dress but what did I fall in love with? Of course a strapless dress. It also has a bit of a severe sweetheart neckline and I'm concerned the seamstress isn't going to be able to correct it much. Have any brides had any luck making their sweetheart neckline more modest? The cleavage isn't out of control yet but I haven't had any alterations done. I'm a D cup and when I first put on my dress with a bra my mother about fainted. Of course the sample size was 5 sizes too big so this wasn't an issue when I picked it out. Removing the bra helped the situation but I will need to have some kind of support added and I'm worried it will be like whoooooa all over again. If the neckline can't be fully toned down I've thought about doing a lace topper. Tricky part is finding a lace that will match my blush dress with ivory lace overlay. I've seen lots of posts about Tulip and Etsy. Any feedback from brides that purchased toppers from either store?

Hi Jennifer! You have a beautiful dress! I have strapless sweetheart neckline dress as well and will do cups. Not sure yet if I will sew them in the dress or not. They are sticky and supportive and think they will fit your dress.

Sorry this isn't helpful but it looks amazing the way it is. Not to be a creep, but you have nice bosoms for the dress. Embrace it girl!

Are they shortening the dress at all? If so, the can use the lace from the scrap that has been cut so it's a perfect match to hide cleavage a little. That's what a seamstress suggested for a gown I was considering. It doesn't even need to be the lace part of the skirt since the tulle will match the top still. A good seamstress can handle this, you'll be fine. Smiley smile

I worked at David's Bridal for a while and I'm not sure how but I know it is possible! Alterations should be able to come up with something Smiley smile

Cups aren't gonna help ya. I have the exact same problem. I'm a D cup with a sweetheart neckline. I ordered multiple strapless corset bras off Amazon and tried them all on with my dress. Some were better than others. One of them makes the cleavage less dramatic and that's the one I'm wearing. I worked with my seamstress and she showed me all of the options to make it more modest but they all looked stupid honestly. I'm just going to embrace the cleavage.

In my opinion, your dress is stunning, you look stunning in it, and I don't think it looks trashy or tacky. You just look like a beautiful bride

You look amazing! I have no help for you but if you feel comfortable don't change it, it doesn't look too cleavage-y at all

You look amazing. I'd personally embrace the cleavage, by using some lace from the been out ordering the same lace from the manufacturer should give your seamstress the option of tucking something behind the deep v. Between that and a statement necklace, you could probably get pretty well covered without doing any kind of jacket.

Thank you all for the feedback and compliments! I have my first alterations appointment in 3 weeks so I will see what she says. I had to order a larger size to accommodate my hips and maybe things will improve when she fits it properly throughout my waist and bust. Of course when you're younger all you want are boobs and when you get older all they do is get in the way, hah!

Jennifer, I agree with PPs your dress looks absolutely stunning on you!

I'm sure that your seamstress can take the lace that she's removing to make the adjustments your looking for!

If not, she should be able to either get some (if you're altering your dress when you bought it) or tell you where to get some that will match!

Oh I hope you can make it work out the best for you because that dress looks amazing on you! I have double Ds and a tiny waist, and intentionally went with a straight neckline (I'm sure that isn't the correct terminology) because I am constantly pulling shirts up to avoid the cleavage hanging out.

That dress is gorgeous and your body is bangin. Your seamstress should know how to alter the dress to cover up your bodacious bosoms.
