Surviving rain at an outside wedding

Heather, on September 3, 2016 at 12:06 PM Posted in Planning 0 29

My wedding is in a month and a half and is outdoors completely. The weather should be ok but I'm a little nervous because we have no back up plan except potentially a tent. Our budget is SUPER tight so there's not really any spare money. Any suggestions? Or know anyone who survived a rainy outdoor wedding?

You really need to have a backup plan. Definitely rent a tent just in case - it will be worth it.

Solidify a back up plan. If you don't have one, you're gonna need one.

Agree with all PPs. Have a backup plan. Went to a wedding in may, it poured and was 42 degrees. Thankfully they had a tent. Still cold but not wet.

Get a tent or an indoor backup location! Do NOT make your guests sit outside in the rain. Plus, you don't want your dress to be all soggy!

Make a backup plan to either move indoors or at the very least have a tent. Otherwise people will be leaving early or not showing up.

You should always have a plan B for an outdoor wedding. Weather is never a guarantee. If there is any way to rent a tent at this point, you should do it.

You absolutely need at least a tent.

I had a woman come in my aunt's store last week griping because she had been to a wedding that was outdoors and the bride had wanted to get married in the rain so they left it outdoors in the open. The bride might have liked it but all the guests were soaked and ill. Definitely look into a tent!

    1. Tent.

    2. Heaters. October can be really cold.

You need a tent. If I was invited to an outside wedding and it was raining, and there was no tent, I would drive away and go home. Seriously.

The tent is already in the works! I wouldn't expect people to sit out in the rain without cover. Also October won't be cold where I live so no worries there =]

Just curious about how to manage the rain because indoors won't be an option.

Same here! Our wedding is the weekend after yours! We'll have a tent to set up just in case. But we won't need heaters either. Do you live in Texas?? Lol

I attended a wedding with an outdoor ceremony and we got rained on. It was a small drizzle but there was no plan and I got cold fast! I highly recommend a tent/ a plan B.

Aknight It is in Texas! Usually fall doesn't have too much rain so fingers crossed for both weekends! =]

What do you mean, "How do you manage the rain?" What specifically do you want to know?

I would make sure the tent had flappers so to speak. It should be ok unless the rains blowing sideways.

The tent at the hotel we're getting married at had plastic flappers that zip up around the sides just in case. Make sure yours does ...my suggestion.

My reception is under a tent and it has full sides that can be attached if the weather is bad enough. If it's that bad we'll probably just go inside. Glad to hear you've got a tent ready, and I hope it doesn't rain!

Seems pretty simple. Outdoors+back up plan=tent. You can't determine the weather soooo...

Ya I'm not sure what you are asking. You said that a tent is already in the works but you're asking how to "manage the rain". What is the issue?
