Sunday Weddings

Okay so the venue I want MORE THAN ANYTHING isn't available on the date I've chosen BUT the day after, which is a Sunday, is available and $1,000 cheaper. I'm kind of leaning towards it but I've never heard of a wedding being on a Sunday. So thoughts?

I have been to one Sunday wedding. We ate, drank, danced. It started at 11 or noon and was over by 9 or 10pm Smiley smile

I've never been to one but I think if you make it early and keep it short you'll be fine for local guests. Keep in mind that Saturday's are most popular for a reason and the venue is having to discount Sunday to get it booked so that should tell you something. If it works for your VIP's then go for it.

I'm getting married on a Sunday and haven't had a single person say "ew, Sunday?" I've had people decline for the other, expected reasons like childcare or travel expenses, but not because of the day of the week.

Maybe people will leave earlier than I expect but my goal is to make sure they're having too much fun to even think about it. Fingers crossed!

I am getting married on a Sunday. My younger brother is a very religious Jew so it's to accommodate him. My FH sister was married this past Friday so I don't foresee this being a problem, especially since they're 20 months apart.

I've been to a Sunday wedding. It's a little rough for your guests because they may have to get up and go to work the next day, but if it's local for most of your people, it's not that big a deal. You may have some people who live further away who can't make it, but those who really want to be there on your day will make it work.

My brother had a Sunday wedding and most of their guests RSVP'd yes. Some guests that didn't take off from work the next day did leave early (their reception ended around 11pm).

I'd check with VIPs and see how they feel about Sunday evening or you could even do a brunch or lunch reception.

Yup, our wedding is on a Sunday and the wedding I just went to last month was a Sunday - and it went til 11pm! (I took off the next day). If people are traveling for the wedding, it is very likely they will take off Monday so it's not a big deal. Local people will leave when they want to leave.

    Go for it! :-)

I have been to 2 Sunday weddings (1 was on a 3 day weekend though). Both were fun. I think a lot of "how wild" it gets would depends on your guests (if most people are local, they may want to leave a little early since they have to work the next day, if you have OOT guests- although it may be tougher on travel-they would most likely be staying in a hotel and not care what night of the week it is since they are off the next day. The question I would ask myself is, is 1K enough in the grand scheme of things to give up a Saturday?
