I'm planning a wedding for next summer, and I'm leaning towards a Sunday. For starters, the venue I love is $2,000 (which will pretty much pay for our honeymoon cruise) cheaper for Sunday vs. Saturday, but it also fits our personalities really well. We're more laid back. It'll be a an easy, afternoon wedding at a botanical garden.

Almost all of our guests are local (within an hour and a half of the venue), so I'm not too worried about that stopping people from coming. We're also thinking of a 3pm - 8pm to be considerate of those going to work the next day. Although, I'm a teacher and so are a lot of my friends, so a good portion will be off for the summer anyway.

I've only told family so far, and many of them don't seem thrilled about it because it's not traditional. I guess I just want to hear from others who've had/been to a Sunday wedding. Any tips or things you would've done differently?

We are having a Sunday evening wedding on Memorial Day weekend. Our original venue closed that was scheduled for that Saturday.😞During our new search I found that yes venues are cheaper on a Sunday and at the point that I’m at now, people are going to come and celebrate with you or not. Either way you’re getting married and it’s your day😊

My wedding is on a Sunday and starts at 5.30. My fiancé and I both work in the medical field so traditional weekends (having Saturday and Sunday off ) don’t mean anything to us, as we have to work weekends and are used to having weekdays off. I don’t think people realize that not everybody has a typical Monday-Friday 9-5 work schedule. So with being said, I didn’t mind a Sunday because it was cheaper and more vendors were most likely to be available that day.

In fact, when people schedule things on Saturdays thAt is harder for me to attend and I usually have to request off from my job.

Not a lot of my guests had anything to say. I did have one cousin say something about having an event on Sunday but I ignored him. If you can come then come. If you can’t then so be it. My life and wedding will go on.
