Summer Tent Wedding Opinions

Mallory, on March 29, 2019 at 11:00 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 6

Hello,

I am getting married in July, 2019 in Raleigh NC. I need opinions if an outdoor ceremony will be too hot. It would be under a tent at 10am. Probably last 30 minutes. Tent has a white top and glass sides with a couple panels that can open up for air flow.

Reception is inside.

Thoughts??

I think you will be fine, but I would definitely rent some large industrial fans to help with the air flow.

I played violin at an 11:00 wedding in June in Fayetteville NC, about an hour from you, and a groomsman passed out during the ceremony. You never know.

Honestly, it's hotter under tents (even though they provide shade) than out in the open air. The air collects underneath and the sun beats down, and it becomes stifling very quickly. And that's even before you add all the collective body heat. I would reconsider your plan if you are committed to a July wedding.

That’s tough. I lived near Raleigh for a while and it gets HOT! If you want to do this rent some industrial sized fans to keep it cool and have plenty of water in stock. We are doing Southeast Virginia in June and I know that even with all that, the older guests would be very uncomfortable. Especially if it was around lunch time. We opted for an outdoor ceremony and indoor reception.

Thanks for the input. Would it make a difference if we handed out hand held paper fans and opened up all the sides of the tent to allow air flow? Ceremony will start promptly at 10am and last about 20 minutes. Everything else would be inside...
