Suit (NOT tux) rentals?

Priscilla, on April 5, 2016 at 8:42 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 21

I know this is kind of off-topic because it's groomsmen-related, but does anyone have suggestions for suit rentals that aren't awful? My original thought was to have the guys go in on a buy-so-many-save-a-percentage deal at Jos. A Bank, but unless they all buy from the same location it won't work (I am thinking about designating one groomsman to take all the measurements and buy suits and have the rest of the guys pay him back?) I had no idea how expensive suits are!

Obviously, another option is to do online suit rentals, but I don't know of any that will use measurements without taking the measurements in person.

I know this should be the groom's job, but we are 4 months out and he seems to think we have all the time in the world :eyeroll:

Men's Wearhouse and Jos.A.Bank both do suit rentals. This is what we plan on using for our wedding.

There's this website called Menguin that you send in measurements and they send the suit. They have a list of tailors that you can go to and have measurements taken. It was something we were looking in to.

And yeah about the boys clothes being the groom's job..... I drug my FH in to Men's Warehouse and told him we weren't leaving until a decision was made.... one month before our wedding. Smiley smile

Do not buy suits from Jos A Bank. Even with their buy 1 get 2 free deal (which I don't think they do anymore) the suits are overpriced. You're better off renting from a local suit shop; if you're in a decent sized city you should have 1 or 2 in town. There's also another website like Menguin, I believe it's called the Black Tux, if that's something you're interested in.

EDIT: I think it's fine to rent from MW or JAB but I wouldn't make the GM buy them from there.

Honestly, we looked at MW for rentals vs. buying.

They have very limited options to rent. It ended up being about $30 extra for them to just buy the suit once all the discounts were applied. I would look into buying. Rental was like $200, buying was $230.

We went with Tuxedo Junction. They are a chain but not everywhere like MW. The guys are purchasing the suits for $200, and MW would have charged $220 for a rental. Our out of state guys will have to go elsewhere to get measured, but they pick up the suits here.

Our guys went to Moore's (Canadian version of Men's Wearhouse). They rented tuxes instead of suits, because that's what they wanted, but had they wanted suits instead, I would have pushed for them to buy them instead. Rentals are almost as pricey as purchasing the suits, plus I found the rentals never fit quite as nicely as a purchased suit that can be more precisely tailored to fit.

Men's Warehouse shirts, pants, vests, and ties $80-$90. I wanted to go the "buy" route but the guys my FH picked don't wear suits so it would've been a waste of money.

We rented suits from Tip Top Tux for $140 each including jacket, pants, shirt, tie, pocket insert, socks, and shoes. They were really easy to work with.

The black tux is great. Nice and stylish. We used it for another friends wedding and might do for us too. Just did the measuring with some measuring tape ourselves and they sent us the suit.

We are renting suits from a local place- their cost to rent a suit was $100 less than MW in the color we wanted (MW doesn't rent out navy suits). Jos A. Banks is definitely overpriced. Check out some local places in your area- we've found some great deals!

So my FH also thought he had all the time in the world and just went last week! We have 7 groomsmen who will all be renting full suits from there @ $170 and FH is free. He went to MW but they didn't have anything he liked so he went with Donte Zeller

They assured us (well him, lol) that we'll have everything in time. They didn't even want to measure our 3 year old son. They said come 2 weeks before the wedding, just in case he grows. All of the groomsmen are going to the store for measurements since the style has already been picked out. I hope that this helps, considering how late we are

Renting suits/tuxes from Jos A Bank was a disaster for my future BIL's wedding. We will def NOT be renting from them. Mens Wearhouse or a local place for sure!

Check out IndoChino. They do a buy 5 get one free deal. And they will send the shirt for free. The suits look really fresh. There are 5 in my FHs party and he wants one of the more expensive ones so he's paying for a part of all theirs in exchange for his being free.

We just purchased all the guys suits on sale for $179/suit from MW ( the guys will pay us back- I don't think you should ask a grooms men because it can get expensive even if people are paying him back its a lot to ask someone to front). Also we signed up for their rewards club and since we spent a certain amount of money we are getting $150 in rewards which we plan on taking and getting the guys accessories with and giving them the accessories in addition to the gifts we already got them.

I am tailoring a grooms 3 piece suit that he ordered on Amazon, paying $100...most suits are rented for one day for more than that with nothing to show for it!
