Suggestions for photography and dj in Sacramento area

I’m in SoCal and around here, you could be looking at minimum $1,000 for an experienced DJ, and depending on the experience of the photographer, up to several thousand dollars. That being said, if you’re flexible on how much experience the photographer has, or are lucky enough to find someone who markets themselves specifically as an affordable option, you may find someone around the $1,500-$2,000 range, maybe even a little below that range. Or, call up/email the local university/community college photography program and see if they have any students they’d recommend for a wedding gig. You may be able to get a group of students for cheap.


I’ll throw this Bay Area girl out there for you, since she’s pretty affordable for the number of weddings she’s done, and I’m sure she’d be willing to go to Sacramento. When when I contacted her back when I was looking for photographers, she was in my area and was an absolute sweetheart, even when I told her I ended up going with someone else. She has pricing on her website, with photography packages starting at $1,500, and photo + video packages starting at $2,500.

I also highly recommend using Instagram hashtags, like #sacramentoweddingphotographer, #sacramentophotographer, etc., and see who pops up. Many up-and-coming people who are looking to portfolio build start on Instagram and will be cheaper than most established photographer. My go-to indicator of how affordable they may be is how many followers they have. If they’ve got thousands, this is probably someone who’s been in the business for a while. Someone with just a couple hundred or even less than that, definitely newer or just started their Instagram. It’s not 100% accurate, but it’s much quicker than going on every photographer’s website for pricing, or DMing all of them.
