Suggestions for first dance song

Amy E., on September 28, 2011 at 4:54 PM Posted in Planning 0 12

I need help finding a first dance song for us. We both like country music. I want the song to be rather current. I like Lady Antebellum "When You Got a Good Thing" or Blake Shelton "God Gave Me You." Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

I originally thought we'd agreed on "Free" by Zac Brown. Turns out FH really hated it and just didn't want to deal with it at that point. I think we've settled on something else. I don't always listen to country, so I just heard Rascall Flatts' "I Won't Let Go" for the first time today. It was really beautiful. I want to work it in to our songs somehow, maybe use it for the parent's dance or as a tribute to my step-dad who died. Now, it could be more of a tribute to someone who's passed, but you could also take it as a promise to help each other through anything. It's your take.

I also love "Honey Bee" if you'd like a more fun, upbeat song.

Good luck! Song hunting for everything has been one of the toughest parts for me!

Aw man, I feel so awkward not choosing a country song! I understand it's the genre of choice but not for us. We're going to do, "Oh, It is Love" by Hellogoodbye! I'm just concerned it's not dance-able!

"When you got a good thing" is #1 on my list!

I used to always say that I wanted Bless the Broken Road but ever since it has come out it has become the cliche wedding song. Ever since I heard "When you got a good thing" I was like this is it!

I can love you like that by John michael montgomery or his song I swear!

Im not doing county, and I was born and raised into country music, but those songs are beautiful! I know you wanted recent ones, also Taylor Swift love story, but thats kind of fast.

From your choices, it seems you'd like more modern country/country rock. I don't listen to this genre much but I like:

"Crazy Girl" by Eli Young Band

"Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not?" by Thompson Square

"Love Like Crazy" by Luke Brice (I think it's Luke Brice)

"You and Tequila" by Kenny Chesney
