Subtle Disney Theme

Catie, on August 30, 2016 at 10:50 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 31

So I have always loved Disney but dont want it to be over the top and mot super obvious. I was thinking of using it in three different ways. First we would use "A Whole New Whole" as out professional song. Then we would have a globe to sign as our guest book and have a sign next to it saying "help us start our whole new world" by singing our guest globe. And third I was thinking of using "ill be in your heart" as my father daughter dance song. So two questions following this. 1. Do you like these ideas or are they too much? 2. Any other recommendations on how to add subtle Disney theme through out, keeping in mind Im getting married Oct. 14th and dont have much time. Thanks!

I'm using some subtle Disney details in my wedding as well. Instead of table numbers we are having disney couples as a way of identifying our tables. We are also using a disney cake topper, and our center pieces are based on Beauty and the Beast (pink rose petals, candles and mirrors)

I'm on mobile so I apologize for multiples posts. Have you done centerpieces yet?

I think song choices are a good subtle way to add Disney. I was at a wedding in May where the couple had a very subtle Disney theme (they got engaged at Disney World). They used the instrumental theme from Up as they walked out of the ceremony together and played "You've Got a Friend in Me" during their slideshow. It was very cute and touching. I cried.

@Catherine Pinterest is pretty amazing. I'm loving all the Disney themed party ideas. I'm current a "Ms R" so the C will definitely take some getting used too!

Your subtlety sounds good. I have a Disney obession too.. I am walking down the aisle to an instrumental version of Now I see the light from Tangled... our cake topper not so subtle is the chairs from Up... saying You are my greatest adventure and there will be a hidden mickey on the cake somewhere... there may be a couple other ones that have not been decided yet.

I love this! We had the exact same cake topper as @Kristina. The bridal party processed to an acoustic version of "Married Life", the theme from up.

Not traditional Disney but as another idea, we also had a Star Wars guest book and toasting glasses, and my bouquet was paper flowers made from Harry Potter book pages. So everything was quite subtle but we were able to add our touches in here and there. I also had a Dr. Who garter lol.

We had some subtle Disney touches. We had some hidden mickeys including the bms and I had 1-2 Mickey Bobby pins in our hair and our bouquets had mickeys on the wraps. My bms walked down to "Can you feel the love tonight". Our sweetheart table centerpiece incorporated the Lenox Mickey and Minnie in a car figure. Our table names were movies (not just Disney).

Eta: we also incorporated a few touches of Star Wars and I walked down to "Harry in winter" from Harry Potter"

I love UP! It's my favourite movie and I am incorporating it a bit in my wedding theme. Since my theme is more adventure/journey/travel, we will use some of the play on words from UP but I absolutely LOVE the "Married Life" theme and am determined to use it either in the slideshow or as part of the ceremony.

@RHmargo beat me too it. Maybe throw in some hidden Mickeys like the do at the resorts. You could have one on your cake somewhere, or a patch sewn into your dress, etc...I love Disney stuff, and your other ideas sound great so far!

I love the subtle stuff and am hoping to add various elements from things that are meaningful to us. Beauty & the Beast was part of my proposal and similarly I could see doing something subtle with the rose. And it's your wedding so if you want to go over the top go for it.

I'm not generally a huge Disney fan but I was looking for unique music for dinner and I found some amazing jazz versions of Disney songs! You could add something like that for a subtle touch!

I love Disney. I'm doing mickey heads on our bouquet wraps. Not sure what else I'll add.

Use the hidden mickeys! Like hidding them in snacks and pictures and decor!
