Submersible silk flowers

Katie, on July 8, 2019 at 9:38 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 1 7
Has anyone found silk flowers that they used submersed (like under a floating candle per say) that didn't bleed? I like the picture below and don't want to spend the money on real flowers. Any reccomendations on silk flowers that won't bleed? Thanks!

    Hey there!
They make water resistant flowers now. You can get them at Michael's.

    Hi there Katie!

As Anna mentioned, it’s totally possible to buy water resistant flowers now.

Check out Michael’s, Hobby Lobby, AC Moore, and Amazon!

Would you like to use roses also? Or some other type of flower?

We bought flowers from hobby lobby, just normal silk flowers. We soaked them for about 5 minutes , they did bleed. But after that initial soak they were fine and did not bleed after that.

Daaaanng I didn't even think about this. Thanks for the tip! I hadn't realized they could bleed. I wonder if fake leaves from the craft store would bleed? Guess I could test it out.

I'll be doing orchids in water with a floating candle! I ordered a couple fake orchids from aliexpress to do a mock up and they worked out great! I even left them in the water for a couple days to make sure they didn't bleed and they worked just fine. The only issue with aliexpress is that shipping takes FOREVER. So if you have time to spare I would definitely suggest trying it out and buying a couple options to test before you commit to a whole order. The orchid that I picked ended up being something like $2 per stem which was wayyyyy cheaper than Michael's, Hobby Lobby or Joanns.
