Styrofoam balls and Fake flowers???

BK'sGIRL, on May 21, 2010 at 3:05 PM Posted in Planning 0 19

Ok all you shopping diva's, I need some help... I am looking for the cheapest 5" and 6" styrofoam balls and the fake flowers to make flower balls for a portion of our centerpieces. Has anyone done this DIY project before and have any advice? All responses are grafefully accepted. Thanks so much!

I couldnt find them at the dollar tree either. Try save-on-crafts.com. I got some at Michaels for $3something, but I had a coupon.

I'm making flower balls to decorate the aisle for our outdoor ceremony. We bought styrofoam balls that are about 3 inches and bought fake flowers from Garden Ridge then just cut the stems off to about 2 inches and stuck them in the ball and they turned out so cute. To finish it off, we added blue ribbons which is our wedding color to hang from shepard hooks

The best deals I have found are 5" for 3.99 and 6" for 4.25 each. But I am wanting to do around 50 of them so if I can find them for $1 - $1.5 that would cut the price in half.

Also, fake flowers are almost as expensive as real flowers?!?! Does anyone have any suggestions on alternative to fake flowers?

I did mine myself I bought the styrofoam balls at Hobby lobby for 2.39 each. I suggest the dollar store (dollar tree) whatever you have. dollartree.com may have some too.

    Here are my diy ones:

They have them at Flower Factory they came in packages of six I think I pd $ 2.95 Also, got the flowers from Garden Ridge they were white rose (full) they came around 8 per bunch for $5.99. I too was thinking of doing the flower balls but, with the extra cost of everything else I decided to make two bouquets for the bar area on a taller glass (champagne) with a little wider opening & got pearlize marbles from $ tree store & fill the vase & hot glue the half flower ball on top. It looks awesome!! Going to put 2 votives around it & that should pick up the marbles to make it shine. They would make great centerpieces. Best of luck

Just throwin this out there...I bought mine off of a dealer from Etsy.com, I got 6in balls w/ 2 colors of ribbons and they were all done up and sent to me for $13 each. That might seem like a lot..but by the time you buy all of the ribbon, flowers, glue, styrofoam balls, AND sit around and make all of them....you could just buy them all pretty already! Just a suggestion. It might be cheaper to DIY them. I just bought them so it was one less thing to worry aboutSmiley smile

I got my flowers at www.efavormart.com and they came in a pack of 168. I got the silk and velvet flowers in sage green and chocolate brown (our wedding colors). I found the balls at www.afloral.com. It's only 4'' but with the flower buds being pretty thick in "height", I figured they'd be substantially big. If you go on the website and google the company's name and coupon codes, you can sometimes get codes for free shipping. I've done it for www.theknot.com and www.exclusivelyweddings.com (which is where I got our invitations). I would try your local craft stores like Michaels and AC Moore and they can place a bulk order for you (I used to work at Dollar Tree). Hope this helps!

Sometimes we have to use silks for some of our brides. The best quality looking silks we usually get from gardenridge, hobby lobby, or joann's fabrics. Pier One also has some really pretty silks every now and then.
