Stretch marks :( :( :'(

Kat, on April 5, 2012 at 11:27 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 30

So I have some stretch marks on my arms from losing weight a while ago and I just don't know how to fade them or cover them up effectively! I want to look beautiful on my wedding day and i dont want to wear a cover up ( wedding is in July) do any of you ladies have any ideas? Will a spray tan work? I really could use some good confidence boosting advice :"(

I was just thinking of writing a post about skin changes after weight loss and I will be watching this post for advice.

I would think a spray tan would be worse b/c the texture of stretch marks is different than regular skin and maybe the tan wouldn't adhere the same? But I don't know the solution, that would just be my worry.

Yay for you in your weight loss journey though! Are you at goal?

Airbrush makeup? Vitamin E is good for stretch marks.

Vitamin E yes - it's good for stretch marks and scars. You can try getting some vitamin E gels and just pin prick the tip and squeeze the vitamin E right on.

Short term, I had stretch marks on my boobs from growing really fast I guess, until the last few years and they ALWAYS were less visible with a tan. I would say a spray would work, its at least worth a shot since its not permanent!

Depending on how deep your stretch marks are, I don't think products are able to help. I believe stretch marks are actually tears in the skin and that's what has caused the scar. They will lighten in color over time, but I don't believe there is a true cure as of now. I know I've heard of lasers that might help - I'm sure that's costly. And the cocoa butter is to help prevent stretch marks when the skin is stretching, I don't believe it will help after you already have the stretch marks.

And actually, I think after the first few days of tanning, the stretch marks are less noticeable.

So do you mean real UV tanning? Or spray tanning?

I feel like any spray tan I've had looks funny in the places where my skin isn't 100% even, like where stretch marks are. But maybe that's just me.

I use Bio Oil on my face and it says it's for stretch marks and scars. Not sure if it works though...

Well a Local salon in my area has spray tans that are applied by a technician . So kind of like airbrush makeup only its a tanner. I wonder if it being applied by someone I may be able to get more of an even coat? not sure though.

I've been using the cocoa butter a few months :/ they have faded some but not as much as I would like. I know they won't go completely away but it would be nice to even the tone of them out so they dont look so obvious! and WOOHOO FOR DATE TWINS!!! Smiley laugh

I have some on my hips and stomach from losing weight, too. I've been using Palmer's products and a lotion with vitamin E. It seems like they are slowly fading. I also started tanning in February and they are barely visible right now. They're there, but I know what I'm looking for. I've never had a spray tan, so I can't say if that works the same way.

Bio Oil works great. I have used it on all my scars from surgery, and I swear by it, and my sisters both used it after they had kids to get rid of stretch marks. Twice a day for a month or two (depending on how big the marks are) and they'll be gone! Its Vitamin E with some other nutrients in it. It also nourishes the skin, so thats always a plus!

I use African Shea butter, its absolutely amazing! It works a lot better than cocoa butter because it has a lot of essential nutrients, but you have to make sure you buy the 100% african shea butter, you can get it from the internet, it has a nutty smell but im telling you it works wonders!

One thing here in Taiwan is the using of whiting creams. Taiwanese and most other asians think white is better then tan and they have lotions with a whitening cream inside.

I have used it on my scar, not religiously, just a few times, but I have noticed a visible difference. I don't see many asians with stretch marks, btw.
