stressing out about hotel block...

lydia, on November 14, 2014 at 9:56 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 9

I guaranteed a total of 20 rooms at the hotel attached to my venue... all but 3 have been booked. today when i called to add more to the block i was told there were no more rooms in the entire hotel available (guests would be placed on a wait list and if any become available they will be offered to the guests of the wedding first). some people are telling me i have to contact another local hotel to make accommodations with them so that if any other guests wanted to stay over they have somewhere to stay i dont know what to do!

You don't really have too many options. The hotel is full. So what....don't stress.

-You can either call to set up a block at another hotel close by and give that information to your guests or they can find lodging on their own. Its so minor and not worth getting worked up over

I agree with Maltese, it is what it is.

I'm unable to find a hotel at all near my venue due to a county-wide event that overlaps with my wedding, so I do understand hotel block stress.

I feel as though you've done your due diligence as a bride. setting aside 20 rooms available for booking was a great gesture and I personally feel that when you do that for wedding guests it should be known that it is a first come, first serve basis. Once the 20 rooms are booked, it is up to the individual guests to figure out what they will do for accommodations. As a bride there is only so much you can do for people; they should take on some of the responsibility.

Don't stress about it. You were thoughtful to set up the block with 20 rooms. If guests waited too long to book there before the hotel booked up they can find their own accommodations elsewhere. You could set up a block at a near by hotel, but don't stress about it.

If they booked up that fast I would set up another block just to be safe!

But yeah don't stress about it. They will stay somewhere.

This is so not your problem! Most guests probably already booked a room at the hotel and maybe didn't mention they were with your wedding group. Others who haven't booked, well, you snooze you lose! haha. Some might have to stay at another hotel. No big deal. They will figure it out. I'm sure there is more than one hotel. It is not up to you to make sure every guest has somewhere to stay via a room block. They could just make a good old fashioned reservation.

I only blocked 10 rooms. I think 20 is generous so you should be more then fine.
