Stressing more than ever

Kaitlyn, on May 27, 2020 at 9:56 PM Posted in Planning 0 32
We are at the 4 month mark! Time is only going to continue to fly by. I’m getting ready to send out invitations later this week/ early next week. Is anyone else feeling the pressure?

Sorry but I would wait to send out invitations. But there’s lots of pressure either way.

I know but as a bride who sent and paid to send and then postponed, it makes me nervous. Usually you send 6-8 weeks before. I think people won’t respond until it’s closer so that they can access the situation.

I just want them sent out in enough time unfortunately I can’t trust anyone (aka the mail delivery service) to make sure they show up in time if I wait. If we end up with a smaller ceremony due to others health concerns so be it. The way I see it is the day is about my fiancé and I and who was meant to be there will be.

Girl I’m stressing too but I’m still 6 months away. I think it’s always better to get stuff done sooner rather than later. Might help with the stress! I know it helps me if I just try to get everything done sooner!
I even had many vendors tell me when I first started planning that my wedding was too far out but I didn’t care. I wanted to mark it off the list as done!

What we're trying to say is that - traditionally - invites are sent out 6-8 weeks ahead of time. I think we sent ours out around 9 weeks, which was probably a smidge immature, but we did have some out-of-country guests (...my family, who couldn't be bothered to RSVP).

    Which is the key.

Send them out too early, and people will forget. You'll have to chase down every invitee for their RSVPs, because too much time will have elapsed between receiving them and the deadline.

I literally got my dress 2 weeks after getting engaged and it worked out perfectly due to all of the crisis stuff going on. I definitely like to get my stuff done ahead of time, but I’m also doing an out of state wedding so I have to be on top of it. I might hold off a little longer on invitations, but again I might not be able to stick it out lol

If anything I’ll at least prep the invites for send out and then wait to mail them as we get closer to the day.

I might wait on the invites till closer. Have you sent save the dates out ? You could at least do that. I know it’s stressful. Hang in there !!
The other week I sent a big group message to all my guest though giving them more details about the wedding because everyone’s traveling over 1,000 miles so I wanted them to plan but still haven’t sent out the invites just yet. I’ll do that probably 8 weeks before.

I didn’t do save the dates due to trying to stay on budget. But I keep in constant contact with those traveling from further distances. The hard thing is not wanting to over buy things that will have to be returned if a lot of people don’t show. Lol

As someone who is having a destination wedding, I understand what you're feeling. There's a lot of stress and pressure. I've kept our wedding website up to date with all our information, we are planning to send out our invitations in mid-July as hotel / flight arrangements will be required of all our guests and the sooner they reserve the better chance they will get lower rates (we opted not to do a hotel block because the hotel's rates were considerably higher than online vendors).

I think you have to consider all the reasons as to why you are rushing to send out invitations, but at the end of the day it's up to you and if you don't mind the extra work / stress, it's all good. Smiley smile

Hello fellow September bride. I am sending my invites out in mid June. We have a lot of out of town and state guests that are coming. I'm so happy that we got the go ahead from our venue and they are going to start holding weddings in June!! Everything seems to be running smoothly, I just need Men's Wearhouse to open ASAP.

Definitely wait to send out your invites. I was really excited to do so too but we sent ours out around the 10 week mark, which is still early, but our head count was due three weeks before so I wanted to make sure we had a full week to follow up on RSVPs, therefore our invites went out about six weeks prior to the RSVP date. Four months is WAY too early. You want to time your invites to give guests enough time to plan, make reservations, and coordinate logistics but not so much time that it is not fresh on their minds. Especially now with Covid-19 stuff and so many people out of work, struggling with child care and family health, and not having a real sense of time anymore, you do not want to send your invites too early. The event will either easily fall off of people's radar and/or it will just stress them out more. Generally 8 weeks before is the sweet spot, but I say anywhere from 6-10 weeks can be appropriate depending on the event and your guests. With Covid-19 forcing situations to change almost weekly, I would not send out your invites earlier.

I'm hoping by June 5th lol. My FFIL is coming to town that weekend. They live in the upper peninsula of Michigan and they don't have any Men's Wearhouses up there; and I feel bad making him come for a 2nd trip. We live in central Wisconsin and it's a 3 hour drive. And he would prefer to be measured there since he hasn't worn a tux in years. Honestly I'm wondering if we would only lose the deposit my FH paid and considering going to a local place that is open. One of my co-workers works as the accountant at one I'm thinking about asking her if they could do that on shorter notice.

Some of mine have opened up here, but back where the event is taking place they are slower to reopen unfortunately which is affecting many wedding things from happening. I completely understand the set backs as every store wants to have their what’s considered safety measures put in place. I will keep my fingers crossed for you.

Thanks! I'm hoping that they re-open soon. I think the frustrating thing is that when I contact customer service they won't even give dates which I find odd. I literally have everything else scheduled for my hair appt, fittings for my dress, appetizer tasting for my caterer, etc. I just need this to be done.

I am thinking around June 1st will be when they reopen a lot of places since that’s what David’s is doing and the two companies work together.

Of course! I would definitely keep an eye out on the website for your local store.
