Stress Bomb 3 days before the wedding

Jennifer, on May 26, 2021 at 10:50 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 13

We are having a small wedding. Less than 50 people, We are having a plated dinner and we are 3 days out!. I just had 2 guest cancel on my last minute! What do I do? Do I try and fill those spots, should I suck it up and do nothing or let the caterer know we had 2 cancel. Trying not to lose it over something so small but this? Might be the hair that breaks the camels back.

What would yall do?

Let it go, let it go. Tell the caterer they canceled, but it won’t reduce the cost.
If this is the worst thing that happens, yay!

If it makes you feel better, our church had a gas leak and literally exploded 6 days prior to the wedding. And the manager didn't feel the need to call us and tell us this. We only found out via a family friend who just happened to stop by the church. Imagine scrambling for a new venue four days prior to the wedding...

At least they told you. Some people just don’t show up. But unfilled seats after RSVPing just comes with the territory of weddings, unfortunately. Luckily it’s only two meals. So that’s a really small bump and nothing to even stress over.

Agreed! This is a very, very small thing. If this is the worst thing that happens during your wedding/planning, consider yourself very lucky!

I'd contact the catering company asap and let them know and see if they can take it off the bill. Most places where Im from want their final payment the day before the wedding for this reason.

You just don't worry about it.

It doesn't hurt to let the venue and catering company know - they might set up fewer seats/place settings or not prep the food but they are unlikely to adjust your bill at all. This stuff happens. It sucks but isn't a big deal at all.

Just take the lose. I had four people no show my 60 guest wedding and it cost us a couple hundred dollars but it’s just too close to the wedding day to make a difference. Most catering and bartending usually ask for a count the week before the wedding. Don’t let that stress you!

Don't let this ruin your day. If you know of two people you left off the list, reach out to them to see if they can go. If not, let it go. Like someone else said, there are always going to be no shows.

Let it go. There are always a few no shows and at least they let you know. If you can change your catering number then do it; otherwise let it go.

Like everyone else said - let it go.

For them to cancel so close, something unfortunate may have happened.

You can always see if the caterer will box up those meals for you. (They may not, sometimes food service laws in your area won't allow it, but you can ask.) Good midnight snack.

Have the caterer box up those meals and take them with you! No loss there
