If it fits/is altered correctly it shouldn't be a problem.

I haven't had problems with any strapless dress I've worn. I'm a 42H and have went bra less because my dresses have been altered to where they hold these bad boys up and perky. I never had to adjust it at all.

Agree with above, if it's fitted correctly to your waist and has boning, it should stay up

It needs to be fitted tightly to your ribcage. If fitted properly, it shouldn't slip.

Some dresses I've tried on have this "band" that ties on the back of the dress. Think of bra band. It holds the dress in place

A good quality strapless dress, if altered correctly, won't even budge during dancing. Mine stayed in place all night

@Karla: that is just to help hold it closed while it's being laced or zipped. It has nothing to do structurally.

A strapless dress, much like a bra, gets its support from the ribs. In order to fit properly it needs to be snug. Many women today do not like even feeling as if their breathing is restricted, and have a seamstress let the dress out in the ribcage, which then makes the dress slip.

There is a reason corset dresses in history were tight enough to (slightly!) restrict breathing. It kept the dress in place, and they weighed more than a typical modern wedding dress.

Make sure the dress is fitted PROPERLY and you should have no issues.

Mine stayed in place all night. Like others have said just make sure it fits right. I also moved around a lot on my wedding day.

I went into dress shopping swearing NOT to get a strapless dress for just the reason you're talking about - I've had awful experiences with cheap strapless dresses that I had to tug up all evening, and those godawful stick-on strapless bras. But I tried a few strapless wedding gowns and am sooo glad I did. The construction in a good wedding dress makes all the difference! Boning and internal corsets snug the dress to your ribcage and natural waist, so it's really secure and supportive. I'm a 38DD and am not wearing ANYTHING under my dress it fits and supports so well!

I definitely didn't want a strapless dress either (40D here), but that's what I fell in love with. My seamstress altered it perfectly and it did not fall all night.

If it's altered correctly, you will be fine.

Adding to the chorus that a good quality, well fitted strapless dress will cause you no problems. I never had to adjust mine throughout the night-that sucker stayed put.

Good alterations make a world of difference. And also dress tape.. I was nervous.. I loved my strapless and didn't notice myself messing with it or constantly pulling it up.
