Strapless gown alteration help

Hello all. So I really wanted this halter wedding gown that I found online that clearly only came from China. I found it on a few sites (amazon, ebay, some other sites I've never heard of) but none had reviews so ultimately I decided against it in fear of receiving something that looks nothing like the picture. I never wanted a strapless dress because I hate the way I see most brides tugging at their dress all day/night. Lo and behold, the dress I decided on is strapless :/ So now I want to add the halter from the dress I liked online but not sure if it will look right with my dress design.

I hope this comes out in the correct order when I post, so the 1st pic will be the online dress I wanted. The next 2 pics will be me in the dress I chose (front and back)- n then 1 of me playing around with straps in the store, trying to form the halter of the online dress. The next 3 pics are some I randomly found of other women in the same dress. One added straps and I really like the straps she chose, the other added an off the shoulder sleeve which I also like the look but don't think that will help with keeping the dress to me, so the next pic I drew straps to the off the shoulder sleeve dress to see how that would look. The last 3 pics are just random pics of other halter styles that maybe I could get added.

Ultimately I'm looking for opinions. My mom likes my dress strapless just the way it is and is saying when I get alterations done the bust part won't be too big and will stay to my body. I don't trust it lol but really, I am so hung up on that halter neck! So yeah, gimme your opinion from all aspects, please and thank you! (I posted 10 pics in total)

The bodice on your strapless dress has plenty of structure and you have ample curves so that, when properly fitted, your dress will not budge, even without straps. The boning, structured fabric, and the fact that your waist is definitely smaller than your boobs and hips will keep everything where it should be.

If you like the halter look, that's one thing, but if the primary reason you don't want to go strapless is because you don't want to be pulling on your dress all night, you should be okay as you have some curves on you and the dress is fitted well. Brides with straighter body types, a bit of a belly, or who don't have the dress fitted snug enough can have issues with the dress slipping because there isn't a significant enough constriction at the waist to prevent it from sliding down. If your waist is small, and you have wider hips and a booty, the dress literally cannot slide because your hips/booty hold it in place.

I generally don't love strapless either, because I'm always pulling the dress up BUT because I have a longer torso and wider hips street size clothes are usually always gaping at the waist and not holding me tight enough. If I had a strapless outfit actually tailored for me it would be a lot more comfortable to wear.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the first dress Smiley heart. Your dress it really pretty too, although I am not a fan of the straps added to make it look like the first dress. However I LOVE how the off the shoulder straps looks on your dress!

Girl!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the first dress too! lol I ordered it then ended up canceling the order because my mom and sisters kept saying "the price is too good to be true, it's coming from China, no reviews, it's not gonna look like the pic" Ugh! I was seriously ready to take the chance! But then I had to make a decision on the dress in store (that I ultimately chose) because to order it, it wouldn't come on time so I had to take the only one in the store in my size and so there was no guarantee that it would still be there if I waited for the online dress to come (which still would have been another week or so, this was beginning of October and I think estimated arrival was like Nov. 20something). So anyway, you like the off the shoulder best, THANK YOU. I like how that looks but then I'm still worried about there being a gap in my boobs. I need to find some good gel boobs that will help me fill the cups lol

I really like the look of how that halter is, as it puts a new and I think better look to a halter top for a dress. But I also think with how the bodice of your dress is designed and if the straps of the halter will have that or a similar design, it will be taking away from your dress instead of complimenting or accenting it. I think adding the regular simple straps will look good and the look of the off the shoulder with added straps will also look good!

Yes I definitely wouldn't have trusted that dress coming from china, definitely too risky. But it is an amazing dress lol. And yes I LOVE hoe it looks with the off the shoulder straps. And that dress looks amazing on you, it doesn't look like you would need to many alterations done!

Beautiful the way it is. Once it’s fitted you won’t be tugging at it.
