Storing the Gown BEFORE the wedding?

I just got my dress, and my wedding is a year away. How is everyone storing their gowns until the big day. I know it will be put away until at least January for Alterations and Then another month or so after that. I read somewhere that it should lay flat under a bed to prevent the weight of the gown...

Anybody have any suggestions or advice? I appreciate it, Thanks!

Same boat here. I got my wedding dress in December and it came in like two weeks later. It's in the DB linen bag until further notice. I hope it doesn't smell funny. BUT my friend told me that DB will steam/freshen it up if you do that within two weeks of the wedding. Haven't checked on that yet, tho.

It's really common sense here with this.. so many different things out there on what to do. One keep it in a dry place, free from smells, you can fold it up and place it in a box under the bed, be sure there is no moisture which can get to it. You should keep it away from the sunlight as this could bleach an ivory gown, do not wrap the dress in anything that could cause bleeding of colors. I'm not sure about the place you buy it from storing it for you. Most do not at least not around here. If they do it's another charge for it. My dress has been hanging in the white cloth, breathable bag I purchased from DB for 10.00 more. It is hanging on the door inside my closet. I merely go the back so that FH didn't see the dress!
