Still waiting for a proposal. Did the pandemic ruin my moment?

I could really use some encouragement. I’ve been with my boyfriend for nearly four years now, and I have been anticipating a proposal for around a year and a half. I could really use some encouragement. I’ve been with my boyfriend for nearly four years now, and I have been anticipating a proposal for around a year and a half. That is, anticipating moments when a proposal *could* happen - such as on trips. I have no doubt he will propose to me, but the waiting is becoming a lot to bear. The anxiety I feel before trips is almost too much. I suspect, he could have been planning to propose on a trip we were set to take in March. But now, because of the pandemic, we’ll be waiting to take the trip in September. Three more months of waiting for a *possible* proposal? Ughhh I am barely keeping sane! We’ll be taking a vacation with family in one month, and I hope and pray he’ll consider asking me to marry him then. He’s the one for me! Ladies, did the pandemic change any of your fiances’ proposal plans? Did he end up pushing it back or just ask in a different way? I’m driving myself nuts thinking about it.

This happened to me too. I was expecting a proposal at my graduation party (for my Master's degree) and not only did the party not happen, the graduation was on Zoom. Total bummer! Especially since I am 35 years old and we've been together for close to 6 years - this was a long time coming! I had told my now fiance that I didn't want a "quarantine proposal" in our PJs at home and was totally expecting to have to wait months. However, we had already talked about a potential date next summer and were starting to look at venues because so many 2020 brides are pushing the receptions forward a year. We were visiting a local farm last week and because I love animals I was cooing over the baby cows and piggies. To my surprise, I turned around and he was holding a ring. It was the complete opposite of the proposal I was expecting - I wasn't "made up," no hair or nails (because, well Corona), and we were standing outside a barn with all the "fresh" barn animal smells and manure (literally, manure). But you know what, it was perfect. Just us and the cows. When the moment came, any former ideas I had about the "perfect proposal" went out the window.

I hope he pops the question soon, but until then just enjoy the time you are spending together. A few months wont make any different when you have a lifetime ahead of you!

If it makes you feel any better, my FH got so anxious trying to think up the perfect proposal to me that he waited an extra 5 months longer than he planned to, missing a multitude of perfect opportunities- and it ended up being when we got lost in the woods, I stepped in a patch of slugs and had slugs stuck on my foot, and it was pouring rain. Not ** exactly ** the picture perfect setting of romance, but still a great story to tell.
So hang in there! I completely understand the anxiety! And you may come out of it with a fantastic story to tell at your wedding.

We were together for almost 6 years before he finally proposed. We knew we were going to be together and I was anticipating the proposal 2 years in (so I was on pins & needles for 4 years). What got me through was just being present in the relationship and enjoying it as if we were already married (we live together). I had to check in with myself several times and see if I would still want to be together even if he never asked... my answer was always yes. I accepted that he would propose if and when he was ready. Until then, I continued on with life. When he finally did propose it was a total surprise and great!
