Stepfather songs??

I'm in the same boat and wondering the same thing but it don't have to be country it can be anything.

Yeah. its tough...i had a song all picked out for my father and I but thats not gonna happen now. so now im stuck.

I spent months trying to find the perfect song to dance with my step dad to. It was really hard because he became part of my life when I was in high school so I didn't want one of those mushy my little girl grown up songs- but I also wanted something that would tell him how special he is to me. What we ended up with was a version of How Sweet It Is (to be loved by you) by a woman named Donna Gardier. Her version is a bit slower than most other versions I found. I downloaded it from Amazon. That sounds like a good one to keep in mind....same here, he came into my life when i was like 14-15. so yeah. alot of songs have little girls in them rather than teens.

I am having two father/daughter dances bc both of my fathers are equally special to me. And I love them both the same. Each of my fathers picked their own songs. My stepdad became apart of my life when I was about 12 so I had the same problem you all did with the mushy little girl songs. My stepdad picked Ready, Set, Dont Go By Miley Cyrus and Billy Ray Cyrus. We both love country too!! And it meant so much to me that he actually thought about this and told me what he wanted. So that could be an option for you too!!

If he was supportive and kind to you, Because You Loved Me is good. By Celine Dion. My Girl by the Temptations is fun, and if he thinks you are awesome (which he probably does) and considers you his girl, that may be a good song, too.

Oh, and there's that Brad Paisley song about "He Didn't Have To" or something like that. He wrote it for his stepfather.

Those are all very good suggestions...i LOVE the brad paisley one but again, i feel like thats more of a younger type song?? for when he came into your life at a younger age? i love the song "i hope you dance" i always said that when i had children i would dedicate that to them. ill have to check out the celine dion one though! any more suggestions out there??
