It depends on your dress and if it shows wrinkles or not. I've heard that you can get your bathroom really steamy with a hot shower, and then hang your dress up in there (over a clean white towel/sheet if it touches the floor) and that will help loosen wrinkles. Not sure how well it would work on a wedding dress.

I need to because I bought my dress two years ago and so it's been hanging in a closet and getting wrinkled that whole time. For those who haven't had their dress for that long, they may not need to, depending on the material of the dress and how it's being stored until the wedding.

I think it really depends on the dress and the material. If it's satin, its a definate yes. It takes out the wrinkles.

If your dress is wrinkled, then yes you should probably steam it Smiley smile But if it's not then you don't have to!

If your dress isn't wrinkled, don't worry about it. It depends on the materials and style.

My dress is 100% silk with no embellishments and HAS to be steamed. It will show every wrinkle so we are even taking a travel steamer to the venue for right before the ceremony.

I hung mine up in the bathroom and ran the shower for half an hour. It helped with some slight wrinkles from it being handled at seamstress and at home.

If you do this make sure the curtain is closed all way...........cause blow drying a wedding dress is funSmiley smile.

Mine is Tulle at the bottom so I'm getting it steamed.

It makes the dress look crisp and wrinkle free. I have organza layers on the bottom and want them to look as nice as they can. It really does make a difference. It's kind of like asking "Do I need to iron this shirt?" No...you don't have to...but yes it makes it look nicer.

I travelled with mine and will definitely need to have it steamed before the wedding. The bottom got all wrinkly so it doesn't look as nice. Like others have said, it depends on the material of the dress and whether or not it's actually wrinkly/will look nicer if steamed.

My dress has only been hanging in the closet since April and it needs some serious steaming. So I would say it depends on the dress

My seamstress will do this for me right before I am going to pick it up. Once I get it home I was instructed I'll have to remove it immediately from the bag & let it hang until I wear it.

Mine probably didn't NEED to be steamed, but my seamstress cleaned the underside of the train (it was a sample gown) and steamed and pressed my dress and veil. I wasn't expecting much difference with the heavy beaded corded lace my dress is made of, but it did make my dress look much better honestly.

The shop where I bought my dress recommended it. They actually offer steaming free, and told me all I have to do is bring the dress in a couple days before the wedding, they'll steam it, and I can drive it directly to the venue (hotel) and immediately hang it up when I check in.

Since it's free and will ensure I won't have wrinkles, I want to do it.

I didn't steam mines, but it was all lace and I kept the underlay bustled, so you couldn't tell. I did take it out of the bag and let it breathe several days before the wedding though. I'm sure that helped.

My dress is silk crepe with no embellishments, so it will most likely need steaming after traveling 6 hours in the car to where our wedding is. I bought a mini Joy Manago steamer online, and it's awesome.

My seamstress did this for free after she completed the alterations.
