Starting to feel insecure about my dress - Help!

Braelynn, on July 3, 2021 at 1:50 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 13
I absolutely loved my dress and cried when I first found it but as we get closer I am starting to worry about it. I’m getting married in summer and I’m wearing a long sleeve dress that some say is a winter wedding dress. Family members think I’m crazy for not having the seamstress take the sleeves off.. but I’ve always loved the look of a long sleeve wedding dress. Also I dont have extremely large breast but I’m also not flat and my dress has a plunging neckline. I thought this look was chic but now I’m wondering if it’s risqué? We are not getting married in a church and I will only be wearing this dress for the ceremony. Should I add some mesh to the bottom of the V? It already has mesh there for an illusion neckline.

Its a gorgeous dress, my only concern would be that getting married in the summer you might get too warm, it looks heavy. I don't think its too risque at all, I love the plunging neckline. All that matters is that you're comfortable in it! Looks great!

That is absolutely gorgeous. I agree it does look a bit heavy but depending on how long the ceremony is you should be ok. And that neckline looks amazing on you.

Your dress is gorgeous! Will you be getting married outside or inside? Reception outside or inside?

Hi Michelle! Thank you so much! Our ceremony will be outside around 5pm so I am hoping it won’t be that hot Smiley sad I will be changing into a different dress for our indoor reception!

You look elegant and regal. Love that opaque to sheer skirt! I'm not a fan of deep plunges, personally, but that's because of the aestheric rather than the risque factor. You see a lot more skin on the red carpet and it's still very classy.

Just because a dress has sleeves doesn't make it a winter wedding dress. It looks beautiful on you! I wouldn't add mesh if it already has it for the neckline. The dress does look heavy and I imagine there may be lots of sweating involved for your summer wedding. Have a plan for freshening up before you change after the ceremony and you'll be fine. I tend to agree that it looks like it would be better suited for a fall or winter wedding because it looks extremely heavy. I got married on the hottest day in the summer the year I got married and the wedding was inside, but it was still warm so I can't imagine wearing a dress like that outside during the summer.

I think it's really pretty but I do agree with your family that it looks like a winter dress

I think it looks beautiful and not too risque at all! Especially with the sleeves, I feel like it's perfectly fine showing that amount of skin.

I also think it's very natural to re-think your choice. I know I have. I think it's because when I bought it, there was probably an element of 'oh it will look even better when it's altered to fit me, when I have the hair and makeup etc done, when I've lost x weight' or whatever whatever, and then as it has been altered down to my size, it's like... this is what it is going to look like. This is how I will look on my wedding day. And I think it would be almost impossible for the reality to live up to the image I'd had in my head.

But you chose your beautiful dress for a reason, and I am sure that you (we!) will look beautiful on your wedding day!

This is such a beautiful and unique looking dress. I think the neckline is fine - if your boobs were any bigger, it might not be. If it will make you feel more comfortable, add the mesh, but I don't think it needs it. It does look a bit hot for summer though - are you changing for the reception?
