Stamps on RSVP envelope

Future Mrs., on May 28, 2013 at 12:08 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 14

Do I HAVE to put stamps on the RSVP envelopes? I'm giving the online RSVP option as well...which unfortunately, I'm sure most of the older crowd won't use. :-)

I think I already know the answer to this, but thought I'd whine a bit...

You don't HAVE to. But if you don't, you might as well not include RSVP cards at all, since no one will use them.

I only put stamps on the envelopes for the people I knew would use the RSVP card (the older crowd, as you say). I also gave people the option to RSVP online.

So far though most people have used the RSVP card, even if I didn't provide the stamp. If they want to buy their own stamps, that's their decision Smiley winking

My mom says I have to stamp them. I don't want to cuz I know I'm going to get calls. But whatever, more money down the drain the way I see it!!!

I must look into the online rsvp for my younger guests...

Okay. I am fighting the same dilemma...ugh. I hate the stamp and money going to waste. What do people think about putting a stamp in, but not putting it on? That way, if they RSVP online, they can still use the stamp for something else?

No way I'm not stamping them.

I know most people will RSVP online or via phone.

It might be a good idea to stamp the cards for the older crowd maybe

Okay, soooo I went ahead and stamped them. I think what was bothering me is that I remember with my friend's RSVP envelope, I lost it and had to buy another stamp and envelope! SMH @ me!

@Tatiana, I like your idea of just placing the stamp in the envelope. I went ahead and just put it on the envelope..just put it somewhere where they can actually see it..because let me tell ya about another RSVP envelope I had....okay maybe I need to not assume that people are as careless as I am lol!

I think because I've been such a careless wedding guest in the past, that I assume the same about everyone else. My RSVP skills have been terrible in the past lol!

Anyway, gotta love these little extra details and costs. *sigh*

You dont HAVE to, but you probably won't get many returned back to you if you don't.

I choose to completely get rid of the RSVP card...and instead had this on my card:

Kindly RSVP no later than August 21, 2013 by:

    Email:

    Website:

    Phone:

And I am totally for supporting our posties...but its an expense that is not needed, nor will people actually use. I have provided 3 options for them, then choose the best and all of them work for me.

I would NOT stamp the RSVP enevelope, some etiquette books say to do so, but I believe if you provide options, they will choose the one that best suits them...which usually suits you to.

I didn't and its turning out fine. I had to send invites all over the world so my postage was ridiculous. I figure if you care enough you'll send it back or use the website or heck call. If not than oh well! ...lol

Love the idea, Stacey L. Did you have any issue with people trying to add +1's or anything? How did you know which meal they wanted (or did it not matter?)

    Hi Kyle,

Had no issues at all so far. A few of the older folks just called and left a message. I am fortunate and did not have a lot of out of towners.

My meal is buffet style, so there were no choices for them.

If you are having a meal...the options I have seen were to include everything as normal on the card above, and then then a simple, "please inform us if you prefer chicken or beef". There is an option on my wedding website that allows people to pick as well.
