Spray tan.... FROM HELL!!!

Boggsezbabe, on April 10, 2013 at 2:01 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 32

So last night I decided to try airbrush tan at my local salon. My engagements are tomorrow and my bridals on are Saturday. The airbrushing went well. The lady who did it made me feel very comfortable and relaxed… But once I got home... it went downhill from there!!. I woke up this morning looking like an Oompa Loompa!! So much so, that my FH was teasing me singing "Oompa Loompa Doopidy Doo" haha I scrubbed myself with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser (Yeah.. the kind used for the kitchen).. I look a little better.. but I’m still pretty orange!

OH.. and the best part of this story... I woke up with my white skin showing through by my mouth. Apparently I had drooled last night.

I wish I had pictures to show all of you. At this point all I can do is laugh. I’m pretty confident that I will NEVER do a spray tan again.

Oh no! I'm so sorry! This is why I'm afraid to go get a fake tan!

Try lemon juice, I've heard it works well to slough off tanning solution.

Ohhh no!! I've only had one done before because it was free ( a fried who works at a salon was training someone and needed to show her how to do them) and it was a very positive experience! It actually looked very natural. I'm sorry you had such a bad experience with it though Smiley sad I'd stay away from the magic eraser though, they actually have some pretty nasty chemicals to them... Good luck! Maybe try exfoliating with a sugar scrub?

I've heard lemon juice works too, or vinegar (but I wouldn't want to smell like that!). I can't help but giggle because I drool all the time and that would totally be me! I'm not sure where you're located but just cover it up for your engagement shots. Concealer, concealer, concealer!

Oh no! I am so sorry. I was thinking about having one done before my wedding but now not so sure. Have you called the salon?

Omg! Wow! What a nightmare. I've had a spray tan from Benefit before and I thought that it look pretty natural. But I heard that a combo of Lemon juice, sugar, and olive oil works well, it's supposed to exfoliate and moisturize at the same time.

Oh no! Typically I always suggest the first time you try a place to not sleep in it for the exact same experience you are talking about... so sorry!! I would call the place who did your spray tan and ask what they suggest. They might have a remover that you can use to help lighten it; they know their formula best and would know how to fix it... GOOD LUCK!

Aww man! You are taking this so well. I would be in TEARS! Sugar scrub and lemon! I say get kinky and have your honey help you with the hard to reach places, but I imagine there's nothing sexy to to the Oompa Loompa song....

I'm glad you're laughing... I'd feel horrible about laughing if you weren't.... but then again, you did mention using a Mr Clean Magic Eraser, and I'm lucky it was just me and my boss in the office when I read that). My MOH Tried to convince me it would be okay to let someone do an updo on me, but I NEVER wear my hair up. A pony tail is as close as I come any more, or a braid, but people ALWAYS mess my hair up. I hope it gets better and that you're able to keep the upbeat attitude!! Smiley winking

Try this: cut a lemon in half and put salt on it, then use it to rub all over your skin. Obviously do this in the shower. It should be able to take off at least one shade off the fake tan.

All the above are great...you could also use a baking soda paste (adding water to baking soda) for a gentle scrub...good luck. I'm sorry.

Oh no! That's to funny! I did one in HS in the machine ones and I didn't go potty before when they machine turned on it startles me...needless to say I had a white streak down my leg for tolo : )) while I prefer regular tanning there's been a few other times sense that I've done the cocktail where you do reg tanning bed then spray tan and never had issues!

I would get my money back, for starters! And see if they or another salon can fix it. I've had quite a few spray tans and I've always loved them! I have one in my pic <--- actually! I'm so sorry!!

Oh no!! This is why I opted for tanning in a bed for my wedding no matter how much people fuss at me!! Try the lemon juice and a sugar scrub.

Just an FYI there is a tanning solution that you take a shower within three hours instead of leaving it on so long like the normal stuff. It helps avoid some of the developer coming off in areas before others and having a splotchy tan. It also was no where near as orange as the normal stuff. If anyone is dead set on spray tanning still that's what I would recommend!
