We're being smart with this. We chose destinations we would probably never go to again - it's like a once-in-a-lifetime trip. We chose Switzerland and Portugal. At the same token, we want to save where we can - you can find more affordable hotels and then spend a little more on fun activities.

We saved here and there with wedding planning decisions in order to splurge on the honeymoon.

    Ha. We splurged big time.

We spent almost the same on the honeymoon that we did on the wedding.

25 days. Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Brugge, Paris, Majorca.

We stayed at mostly airbnb's along the way (except in Majorca where we stayed in a beach front, all inclusive resort), but we splurged on basically every meal in Copenhagen and Paris.

Yeah, I'm super fortunate that my company doesn't really have a time-off policy, so I was able to take as much paid time off as I wanted (within reason of course). And my H had enough vacation time that he was able to take the time off without issue also.

Truly a once in a lifetime trip for us.

He planned the entire thing too. I had no idea where we were going until we got on the plane (or train) to go to each different destination.

FFIL is gifting us our honeymoon so we were able to save and splurge while we are there. We have no idea where we are going until the reception when he gives us the envelope.

I wish we went somewhere overseas, but I didn't know if I would be able to get days off since I started a new position. By the time I found out how many days I had off it was better to save and went to Lake Tahoe for 2 weeks.

We chose to delay our honeymoon so we could splurge on a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Europe. My DH is a WWII history buff and we both enjoy history/traveling. So we are going on an 11-day guided tour of WWII sites across Europe. Our particular trip will end during Oktoberfest in Munich, and it will be my birthday so even better.

Could be both? We are taking a trip to Hawaii for a week and though its the most expensive vacation we've planned together, we've also gotten great deals. So technically, at this point in the game, its a splurge because we could for sure go somewhere cheaper.

I wish we could have splurged lol. Splurge for us would of been going to either Bora Bora or the Maldives with an over water bungalow. But we want to buy a house next year and don't want to get into too much debt so we are going to Cancun at an all inclusive resort. I am excited but it's not my "dream" vacation. Hoping the dream can come in a few years like for an anniversary gift or major birthday celebration (turning 40 for example). But I looked at some excursions for Cancun... like swimming with dolphins, taking a day trip to Cozumel and parasailing which I am excited for us to do. Come on April! lol

I REALLY want to splurge here but I don't think we will. I want to be smart about this especially since we plan on purchasing our first home in 2020. So we will carefully weigh out our options.

Save! We are using all my credit card cash back and his hotel points to cover a large portion of our honeymoon. We are planning on a Mediterranean cruise out of Barcelona!

We are going to splurge but not right after the wedding. We're getting married in March and have plans for a few days in San Diego after the wedding. But this summer we want to take a big trip. Maybe Portugal?

We went on a moderate honeymoon to an all-inclusive in Mexico. We did our big trip of a lifetime- 16 days bouncing around European capitals-after graduating college. H had never been on a beach vacation before, so that's what we chose for the honeymoon.
