Is anyone else having spending guilt? The more we spend the more guilty I feel about having this wedding. I mean its alot of money that we could save for something else. I want the wedding, and we already bought our home, have been saving for my sons college, have nice cars, and will not be draining...

I feel like I can let out a sigh of relief after reading how many of you have been feeling what I feel. I am actually a wedding vendor myself AND a bride-to-be, and even though I was well aware of wedding expenses going into our planning, both my fiance and I have been feeling a little bit guilty with every deposit that we have made. For us, it is isn't guilt because we could be spending the money on other things, but it is because we started with such a simple concept for our wedding that has turned into a lot of money.

But honestly, being in the wedding business, I know that every ounce of money that goes into the big day is completely worth it. I have been in awe of every wedding I have photographed, and now it is my turn.

As a photographer I have worked with wedding professoinals for over 20 years and realize how much a wedding can cost. Our daughter also got married 2 years ago and we just went through the wedding plus paying for her college, so I know the financial stress first hand. To keep the stress down, prioritize what is most important to you, and find small ways to save but still keep the wedding elegant. Do some research and set a budget. Consider an experienced wedding planner to help and be creative with low cost alternatives. You definately want to hire professionals for services such as DJ and photographer. They will make your day run smoothly and keep you and your guests having fun and having a wonderful day. Remember the day is a celebration of your love and committment and deserves to be special.
