Ours is next weekend, so what we have planned is the memory table with relatives in their wedding attire. The songs were the biggest “special touches” for us. Our first dance song is a Zac Brown Band song and FH and I have seen them several times together. The precessional and recessional songs are both special to us as well.

We are having board games our centerpieces, the groomsmen are wear superhero shirts under suit and little action figures are going to hold their flowers. (brain fart can't remember what it is called)

I am thinking I am going to have a light saber handle to hold bouquet, and I am going to try and get a Dr. Who cake cutting set.

Our ceremony will have references to Harry Potter, Stranger Things, Lord of the Rings, and Doctor Who, subtly so only people who know those things will pick up on them. Our theme is 1920s Adventure. Everything to FH is an adventure, so we never go on dates we go on adventures. We have 1920s cameras, 1920s binoculars, 1920 compasses, 1920 books, and the jugs that look like moonshine jugs. Our table numbers will be years **** and on the back they will have events that happened in that year that speaks to adventure. We are also using some very unique music for the ceremony and our dances.

ETA: We are also bringing some local craft beer because we love beer and want to serve something special to us.

We are having one of our pups walk down the aisle. I also have centerpieces that are tribute to my grandma's. One loved hydrangeas and the other loved roses, so that is what our centerpieces are. I also have a rose tattoo in memory of one that will be shown on my back. Other than that, FH loves whiskey, so there will be a barrel incorporated somehow. We just love hiking as a hobby and our wedding is in an old Boy Scout camp that is beautiful. There are hiking trails all through it and a lake. FH loves to fish, so him and his groomsmen will get some mock fishing pictures.

All of the "official dance" songs at the reception are purely us, as well as the guest "book" and favors.

our first dance will be to Screen by twenty one pilots, its our song. it fits us so well, we cant imagine dancing to anything else. his mother/son dance is to Breathe by Pearl Jam, it fits him and FMIL and their relationship so well. the father/daughter dance is to From the Beginning by Emerson Lake & Palmer. my dad used to play this song on guitar when i was super little - its in a lot of my memories from being a kid so i couldn't pick a better song for us and i cant wait to surprise him with it.

other than that, my mom offered to make us a quilt for our bed, in our wedding colors (ivory and an ombre of blush to burgundy) and surprised me with it to use as the guestbook! guests will sign the ivory squares and the color will be in-between. i cant wait to see how it comes out! the favors are a true reflection of us, we're doing little packets of dried herbs to cook with, and writing puns on the bag, like "mint to be" or "love gets better with sage." he's really punny and we're getting married in a garden, and while the garden is mostly florals/roses, it does have some herbs included and we thought it would be a nice touch.

FH and I are having a Friendly's Ice Cream Bar. We met at Friendly's fourteen years ago and bonded over Cookies and Cream. We spent the majority of our first few months dating binge eating cookies and cream and forbidden chocolate, so we thought it would be the perfect occasion to honor that, with all the classics of course (chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry).

We had quite a few personal little touches. The venue was a historic women's center that still uses it's profits to provide scholarships for women, and we displayed different influential women in history on the tables. Our vows were extremely personal to us, so we cut out all the extra parts (like unity ceremonies and readings) so that we could spend a little more time on that part. For the reception we included my favorite craft beer, made the fresh strawberry syrup for the signature cocktail together (that was the only food item that wasn't professionally catered), and the final song of the night was a tribute to a couple that means a lot to us.

We had some Ukrainian touches (which I suppose is unique if you're not Ukrainian). For example, during the ceremony our mothers tied our hands with a rushnyk my mother bought from Ukraine and for the recessional had people sing "mnohaya lita" (I think...we more or less ran out of there so I'm not sure it actually happened). We also opened the reception with our parents welcoming us with salt, wine, and a korovai.

We love to travel, so the card box was an antique suitcase (courtesy of our DoC) and for dessert we had our favorite pies (mixed berry for me, pecan for him). We also put a lot of thought into the bar, serving our favorite liquors, Chilean wine (half because it's cheap and good, half because Chile was among our favorite trips and where my husband initially planned to propose), and craft beers from our favorite breweries in the DC-Baltimore area. One of the beers was initially concocted "by accident" after a big storm knocked out power to the brewery, which happened to be the night before our first date (we also ran into some power issues during the date, so it seemed like a cute story).

Also, we didn't want to do a bouquet/garter toss, but my mom's good friends were celebrating their 40th anniversary the same night so we had the DJ call it out later on in the evening, I gave her my bouquet, and then we danced to their song. She was so happy, it was one of my favorite memories.

The location itself was also somewhat personal. We got married in near Shenandoah National Park, where we often go for daytrips, and is also part of the same Blue Ridge Mountain range where we got engaged (albeit further south in NC).

FH works at a cigar shop and wants to decoupage cigar bands on picture frames that we'll have at each table, holding pictures of us from our time dating or engaged. The first meal we made together was for our Bible study (tacos), so we're having a taco buffet (and other foods that go with tacos!) at the reception. Instead of a unity candle, we want to braid cords to represent the scripture "A cord of three strands is not easily broken", as my dad frequently uses that reference when he's officiated other weddings.

I love that idea too. Our dogs are too unpredictable to include in the wedding, but I think we will maybe take photos of them too. I was already thinking about putting out some dog biscuits for people to take, but still am not sure.

@Orchids haha that sounds like fun.

We plan to have some family wedding/other photos on the mantels throughout the cocktail hour area (which will be open all night). I think we're doing this instead of a memorial table.

That sounds so cool! Do you have pictures? FH and all his friends and family have been 4-wheelers and dirt bikers since they were kids and I'd love to see a way to incorporate it into my wedding without stealing your idea!

Sure we had a four wheeler on our cake, my daughter used her helmet with goggles instead of a basket. We stuffed it with petals. It was great. My other daughter had a tray with a pair of riding gloves that had our rings on them. We also rode into the reception on my hubby's quad. That was fun with a dress. I hiked it up, tucked it and had a blast. I'll have to find pics and attach them.

FH and I are huge history buffs with a distinct love for the Victorian era. So we are trying to add as many antique details as possible for a truly authentic experience.

Our theme allows for some Harry Potter details to be snuck in too like black wax candles in the form of snowy owls in the centerpieces. I am currently hoarding candlesticks from thrift stores and online lots to decorate the staircases. If we could have candles floating from the ceiling, we would.

I am currently trying to convince FH to have a cake topper that spells out our names in Gallifreyan.
