Special remembrance ideas?

Tiffany, on February 13, 2020 at 5:46 PM Posted in Planning 0 6
Hi ladies!

I plan on doing an “in loving memory” table to honor our grandparents who have passed & cant be with us. But my FMIL lost her mom last year & our wedding will be the first anniversary of her death... I am wanting to do something special for her and her siblings (who will all be there) since I know the first anniversary is the hardest.
Any ideas?
Thanks!!!

Have you spoken to your FMIL about this? I would ask if she and her siblings would like anything done, and if so, do they have any ideas. And be prepared to respect her wishes if she doesn't want anything. Grief is so personal and the 1st anniversary may be something she doesn't want combined with her son's wedding.

We are doing a reserved chair for the ceremony it will have a sign on it that says we knew you would be here today if heaven wasn’t so far away. We are als putting a little all white rose bouquet on the chair. We have a few family members and family friends that have passed in the past couple years and wanted to do something more generic to honor all of them than single out a few people. Which is also fine but you want to be careful not to leave anyone out.

I put a special 'shout out' to my FH's sister who passed in a motorcycle accident September '19. It says:

"A wedding day is often a day when couples miss family members no longer with them. For both Austin and Mandee they especially miss their sister Michelle who was the brightest light and was taken too soon. They know that she would be front row center beaming with joy today. They would like to take a moment to remember Michelle and all the other loved ones who are no longer with us today. Their Force will be with us Always.

{Pause for silence, but not too long to get awkward}"

We will also have a candle with pictures on it in the reception hall and a blocked off seat at the front row with flowers and a sign!
