Sparkling grape juice instead of champaign?

We aren't having alcohol at our wedding but still want something to toast. Would sparkling grape juice be ok or what would be some other options?

I think having sparkling grape juice or sparkling cider is a great choice. I also dont think having a separate drink (alcohol or not) for you would be wrong.

for you personally, I might say go with the cider vs grape juice just in case it spills or some accidentally splashes out of your glass-you wont have to worry about getting purple dots/stains on your dress!

[Ive already told fh Im not allowed near any red wine and cant drink anything while talking/standing-Im WAY too much of a klutz]

Bluedaisy I agree with not going near anything that is in danger of staining the dress. I am considering the cider because I am a big fan of regular cider.

It is a no alcohol wedding and the toast shouldn't have to be about what we are toasting with it should be about what you are toasting to. Why should it matter if there is alcohol or not?! I'd like to think that our friends and family would be coming to celebrate with us and not to just get trashed.

@Oksana, it's very important to some people, myself included, not to drink alcohol, but we still toast. Sparkling grape juice or cider is a lovely alternative, IMHO. We will probably have sparkling cranberry at our reception.

We are not having liquor at our wedding either. We don't drink and I know some of the people that are attending our wedding would be better off not drinking due to their drunken behaivor.Your idea sounds great!

I think sparkling grape juice or cider is a great idea. You still provide your guests with something "special" to drink while toasting, but avoid the alcohol. I've got the issue of the fact that FH and our parents all really want at least an alcoholic toast, but I hate the taste so I'm going to go with water in my nice silver fluke that no one can see inside of and call me out on it. LOL.

That's a great idea to use water lol especially if you can't see through the glass what's the difference right?

A few years ago after my uncles wedding one of the guests was dropped off by her husband at the baby sitters to pick up the kids... she had way too much to drink and would not have been allowed to leave the venue behind a wheel but we had no idea that he was going to drop her off at the sitters (this was only a few blocks from their home) but before she could make it home she crashed into a minivan and killed 2 or 3 teenagers who were in town with a youth group since then most of our celebrations have been alcohol free... my wedding will have a little bit during the cocktail hour just beer and wine but will be cut off early and our guests will be asked to make sure they have a DD who will drive them all the way home.

Sparkling cider is great Smiley smile and what I am doing. For me it has nothing to do with alcohol or cost, it has to do with health. I have an allergy to fermentation. Which means wine, beer, malts, and champagne are complete no-nos. And my FH doesn't drink by choice. We also have a few family members in the guest list who would prefer not to have anything alcoholic.

Which is better with fish & turkey, sparkling apple cider, red or white sparkling grape juice. I am using one of these instead of wine at a rehearsal dinner.
