Sparklers! We got the 36 inch ones that lasted 4 minutes and they worked great for the exit! We had two people prepare everyone and get them in order and it was beautiful. I can't wait to see the non facebook pictures of our send off.

Sparklers would be my choice for good pictures, maybe a pro photographer can get good pics for fireworks as well. I would want to see if your photographer has done firework pics before.

We're in the same area. I know some venues allow it, but I was looking at those myself but I quickly found they were very expensive

There is a company in my area called Captain Boom. He does about a 5 minute live fireworks show...and takes all the safety concerns very seriously. His crew and him, can do the 5 minute show for around $3000 to $5000.

I am sure it priced differently in different areas, and I am located in rural lower Michigan.

I think midnight even if lots of others are setting off fireworks at the same time -- 2 AM and a lot of people may have left already.

If you're doing it for your send off and you do it at midnight, are you leaving then?

I'd look at the cost then decide. IMO, Fireworks would seem really ostentatious if you are still planning a non-meal cocktail event.

Ooooh yea!! if you can budget for bad ass fireworks, which all fireworks are, then serve a full meal too. NYE is no time to be hungry and drunk..

When I mentioned not having a full dinner it wasn't because of budget .It was a personal choice to make the reception feel more like a party and not a wedding. After long consideration we decided to have a plated menu instead. But again that's besides the point of this post. Thanks anyway !

There is a stadium near my house and every few weeks they do fireworks at 1030, and i'm always annoyed, because i'm lame and go to bed super early, but 9 times out of 10, i get up and stand on our balcony to watch them. there is something grand and magical about them.

Sparklers for the send off. Fireworks would be pretty cool but I would think it would be a lot more expensive.

I vote sparklers as that is what I'm doing for our send. Wedding is at my house so not too much liability there. My home insurance is covering my wedding being at the house.
