Sparklers during the day?

sydney, on March 18, 2019 at 12:38 PM Posted in Planning 0 13

Hello! So as im planning my send off I really like the idea of sparklers and having custom matches to go with them. I am wondering if using sparklers as a send off would be a stupid idea since my wedding will end before it gets dark outside.

Check to make sure they are legal in your city/county/state first! Here in Texas it can be an almost $2000 fine if you get caught with them! Smiley cry

I would buy a pack and try them out and take some pictures to see if they show up on camera or I don’t know how you feel about people throwing flower petals? But I would first check and see if they are legal! haha Good luck! Maybe Pinterest has alternative send offs

We’re having sparklers for our entrance to the reception and first dance and it will be daytime. I think it will still be lovely to see!

I’m not sure they’d have the same effect in the daylight but I also wanted to comment to say PLEASE don’t have your guests lighting these on their own with normal, short matches !! Sparklers should be lit from afar, preferably by a designated sober party, to avoid burns.

We are doing sparklers (it will be dark outside when we have our send off) and we got them CHEAP from this site: https://weddingdaysparklers.com/

Also, don't forget to look into buying lighters/matches. I am going with lighters because I have been to a wedding where they did matches and it was much more difficult to get everyone's lit around the same time because there weren't enough matches and match boxes to go around. We ended up just lighting other sparklers from sparklers that were already lit! Smiley tongue Good luck!!

They won't be as visible during the middle of the day but if its close to dusk, I think it would be beautiful and great lighting for it. I wanted to do it with my reception ending at 6 pm but our venue doesn't allow it.

I love sparklers! I think they're pretty and have a nice effect. Although, we have some serious apprehension about sparklers in my family...

A few years ago, my cousin got married and all the guests had sparklers when she and her husband re-entered the courtyard pavilion area at the start of reception. It was already dark, and there were lots of dry fall bushes around. Someone dropped a sparkler, and the photographers captured the couple entering the reception in the midst of a brush fire... Luckily some quick thinking bus boys dumped several vases on the bushes before it spread too far. (My drunk aunt "helped" by throwing her vodka/cran on it.)

We can all laugh about it now, but no one in our family will every have sparklers again!
