Spanx or other shapewear

DisneyNut, on June 23, 2014 at 12:29 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11

Talk to me about spanx. I've never bought any but am thinking about getting some to wear under my dress. I really only need tummy control so what do I look for? Waist enhancer or tummy control with a panty?

Spanx can be really uncomfortable, hot and from my experience they tend to roll. I was going to get the above for my wedding - I haven't tried them but they look comfortable

I got some from dress barn that worked out nicely. before you could see where my belly button was, after you didn't! and they were like shorts. had no problems with rolling.

When I want to shape out my tummy, I wear the thigh slimmers. They start at mid-thigh and go up to right under your boobies (the bra/bust line). All of that depends on your height, but I'm 5 foot 6 and a half.

Look, you want them to do their job, but you don't want to look like a sausage stuffed into a casing. They need to be comfortable yet supportive. You shouldn't have issues walking/moving or breathing in them.

I also bought a pair recently from both Flexees (Maidenform at Kohls) and Bali's. The Flexee line has easy up thigh slimmers from size S-2XL.

The Bali thigh slimmers had a "cool comfort" feature, so they helped with air flow/weren't as fabric heavy as the Flexees.

I bought some at target. definitely try some on! The ones I thought I'd like turned out to want to shape my butt like nothing I've seen...and not in a good way! lol. if they're rolling, they're too small/not the right ones.

I would not get the ones for thigh control because they have always rolled on me. Just get the ones that are like panties. They are pretty comfortable, only thing that sucks is having to go to the bathroom in them!

I got the easy up Flexees that rustic mentioned. They are pretty comf and waaaay easier to get on and off than any of the others I've tried.

ETA- I saved a bunch by trying them on in a local store, but buying them on amazon for half the price.

I just bought a pair of Spanx and they worked pretty good for me! They went from my bustline down to my thighs! I was a little hot but overall comfortable. And absolutely FutureMrsH...a major pain when having to use the bathroom! Smiley smile

I worry about them being hot too. Maybe I don't need to do this. After my hysterectomy last year my hot flashes are out of control. They last from about 3:00 AM until about 11:00 AM DAILY

So i hated the spanx brand - i found them really hot and i had the rolling issue too.......then i was introduced to this line - i had my first pair for nearly 4-5 yrs and i am only replacing them now....i had gotten the mid thigh to right under bust line (i think its called the catwalk and its great) -- i seen online they have a bride collection too now. hope this helps!!!

Skip it!! With your dress, I don't think it will be necessary. I haven't worn shapewear since high school (i.e., about 15 years) and I can still remember how painful, hot and uncomfortable it was!

If you want to try it for yourself, though, I'd check out Zulily-- they always have sales on shapewear, so you can try it without having to spend an arm and a leg.

I love love love Janira lingerie! I think for your case, you should try the Carey Soft. They shape the tummy but are only an underwear so it's super useful especially if you have to use the bathroom.

They have a transparent mesh back so it doesn't show through your dress along with silicone lining on the hemline so it doesn't mind.

You can find them at: http://www.bbasiclingerie.com/products/shapewear/ja30217000-janira-secrets-carey-soft
