Soup or Salad?

We have found that the soup option is 2.20 cheaper than a salad. The choices are corn bisque, watercress soup served with croutons and chilled gazpacho with smoked oil and cucumber. I don’t feel they are fall choices for September 28th but could fit with the entree choices and menu.
Here is the menu so far
Passed apps
tenderloin with brandy peppercorn sauce served over whipped potatoes in martini glass
chicken skewers served with cream cheese and chives
twice baked red potatoes
shrimp cocktail
mushroom cap with zucchini and gouda
1st course
corn bisque, watercress soup, chilled gazpacho with smoked oil and cucumber, field of greens with marinated feta, cherry tomatoes and vinegarette , Cesar with corn bread croutons or wedge salad with bacon, cherry tomatoes or Maytag blue cheese dressing
Main entree options
Mediterranean Chicken with crispy pancetta, turnip purée, parmesean risotto, green beans, cherry tomatoes, artichoke with Prosecco butter and capers.
Braised beef ribs ( not on list and not sure the sides, we requested and they said yes!) or Panko crusted New York Strip (cant remember sides)

Walnut Pesto Angel Hair Pasta

Dessert
Bride and Grooms cake

We want the vegetarian option due to it’s 14.95 and think it is an option that people who are not vegetarians will choose.

So which soup would fit or no soup and get a neutral salad?
Ps the caterers are very gracious, they are making the bride a special menu to help with her health issues.

I think salad is a good standard, traditional choice but am glad to know it’s not the only choice that is considered fine in the line up. It’s a huge savings. 7.70 for a salad and 5.50 for the soup/bisque selection. We would save 330 dollars going with the corn bisque plus after reading the ingredients, it seems like the more delicious of options. Reminds me of the selection of soups when I cruised. 🌺

Thank you! It will save around 330.00 which can go into another area of the budget.

Gazpacho is a good choice but taste test and see what you like.

The wedding is over. We ordered 3 watercress soups, the bride, a grandmother and myself enjoyed it immensely while the other guest ate wedge salad which looked maxing in presentation!

I think the corn bisque would be yummy, but as a low carb pre-diabetic eater, I would prefer a salad.

As a guest I would like gazpacho, but I think you can do anything to go along with the current menu. Like PP said, I would wait until a tasting.

The wedding was last Saturday, we ordered watercress soup for those that can’t eat raw vegetables and the rest got wedge salads.

I was disappointed in the corn bisque, too salty. We ended up ordering 3 watercress soups and the rest of the guest were given wedge salads which looked amazing.
