Soup or appetizer?

We are picking out menu options to taste in a few weeks and some of the soups sound delicious. We're doing a 3 course sit down dinner so I was thinking either soup, salad, entree or appetizer, salad, entree. Someone told me not to serve soup because it is difficult to serve and a little iffy to eat...

We are picking out menu options to taste in a few weeks and some of the soups sound delicious. We're doing a 3 course sit down dinner so I was thinking either soup, salad, entree or appetizer, salad, entree. Someone told me not to serve soup because it is difficult to serve and a little iffy to eat in such nice clothes. Does anyone have any thoughts/advice/experience with this? Wedding is late September in the mountains so it will be chilly.

    I vote soup. There will be apps during cocktail hour and guests won't be on the move when soup is served, it seems safe haha. It sounds like you will be in the Adirondacks in September (my brother lived in lake placid for several years after college) and it certainly could be chilly and soup may be very enjoyable for your guests. I have never had a problem with slopping soup on myself when seated at a table, so it should be ok. What are the soup choices?

    I personally love soup but I can't eat certain soups as they upset my tummy and can give me really bad heartburn like I need to go home heartburn... Will there be options for the soup ? Also what type of appetizers?

    As much as I like soup I think you have all convinced me that appetizer will be easier

    Seriously, who are all you people who can't eat soup without spilling? I want to know. And maybe I'd reccomend a dr's visit for the shakiness? Pretty sure by age 3 I could make it to my mouth with a spoonful of liquid.

    Honestly I am not a soup person but u love my salads, fh is the opposite.

    Lol I can't believe the amount of issues eating soup. My son has been able to eat since he was like 3 without a mess.

    What would this appetizer be? I am trying to imagine an individually-served appetizer. My vote is for soup, especially for a fall wedding!
