Sound? For an Outdoor wedding?!

Melissa, on November 14, 2018 at 6:53 AM Posted in Planning 0 7
I’m having trouble finding the right equipment I need for sound at my outdoor ceremony. Who has dealt with this before and what did you do? What do I need?

How big an area are your guests sitting in? You’ll need a microphone or two, a sound desk (to run the microphones through), amplifier and at least two speakers (or get powered speakers which means no amplifier as they have it built in). You’ll also have to figure out how to get power to everything. Talk to your venue, they’ve probably seen it before and may be able to advise you.

Ugh, I pressed reply too soon and can’t edit! If your venue can’t help, try a local sound or DJ hire company who will have packages of what you need available and should be able to advise you.

We had our DJ do the music and he was able to bring mics for the officiant and us.

Our DJ is going to bring mics and equipment needed for our outdoor ceremony. I don’t know the first thing about sound set ups so I definitely needed that done professionally! Venue should be able to tell you what people usually do and if you’re having a DJ I’d ask to add that into the package.

I’m having up to 75 people. My venue is just a house I’m renting so it doesn’t have some capabilities an actual venue would have.

That is what I’m looking into! I just hope it won’t cost an arm and a leg. 😬

I’m following this, as I’m havjng a similar dilemma! Getting married at a beautiful building lakeside in a state park, and trying to figure out how to do sound for the 15 minute ceremony is driving me nuts! Our DJ is a friend of FH’s, so I’m hoping he will be flexible with us and be able to just do the sound for the ceremony too!
