Something old?

Cathleendanielle, on February 5, 2018 at 4:04 PM Posted in Planning 0 38
What is your something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue?

I'm mostly curious about your something old? I'm at a loss with this! My new is my dress, borrowed are my mom's pearls (they're not old, sadly), blue is the handle of my bouquet has a blue light (it's a sonic screwdriver from doctor who). My family isn't much for holding on to things. We moved a lot during my childhood so if it wasn't a necessity, it didn't get moved. I'd love to hear about your something old. Maybe it will help jog my memory.

"Old" is a relative term. Your Mom's pearls could be both old and blue.

They're less than six months old. She bought them in October for my brothers wedding.

I used my grandmothers wedding ring as my "something old". In Jewish tradition, a wedding ring isn't supposed to have any stones, so we used her plain gold ring for just the ceremony.

My something old was diamond earrings my dad gave me for my graduation. My something borrowed also qualified, as they were my great-grandma’s pearls.

I asked my mom if my cartidge earring could be my something old because I've had the same one for 15 years. She said anything over 1 year is okay to count as something old and my blue earrings FH got me a year ago which I'm also wearing could also count as my something old. So I'm not stressing about it. Do you have ANYTHING that you're wearing that's not brand new? Earrings? Your glasses? Bra/panties you already had? Bracelet? Heck even a bobby pin?

Here's a link to hopefully help as inspiration! Maybe an old lipstick or makeup item? I don't mean like OLD OLD (ew) but a color your mom used to wear, or a color you've always loved? Something Old is definitely hard to think of, especially if you haven't kept a lot!

My earrings are brand new because I wear plugs. I don't have any other jewelry. Everything I'm wearing is new. Not wearing a bra 😂 why am I difficult. My make up artist just bought red lipstick for my day for me.

I'm going to get some old necklaces from a thrift shop to put into my bouquet. I'm looking for pearls, but you could do it with anything.

My something old is jewelry that my grandmother gave me. We had it appraised at a jewelry store and they estimated late 1800-early 1900.

My new was my dress, I painted my toenails blue, and my old and borrowed were the same item. I wore my Grandma's garter that she wore 52 years ago to marry my grandfather.

Since you're having a Sonic Screw Driver in your bouquet, I'm going to assume you're a fellow Whovian, and suggest having a little Tardis somewhere on you, sort of as a joke. It's all of the above; Old, New, Borrowed, and Blue.

Otherwise, I like PP's suggestion of incorporating old thrifted jewels into the bouquet

The pearls themselves are older than that. It takes between 5 and 20 years for an oyster to make a saltwater pearl.

My something new is my dress, my old and borrowed is a brooch from my grandma that will be pinned onto my bouquet wrap, and my blue is my bouquet wrap itself. I’m also fairly extra so I have a sixpence for my shoe.

Do you have a family photo you can put in a charm on your bouquet? Or any piece of jewelry to wear on your other hand from a while ago?
