So when when we bought our wedding bands back in March the guy at Kay's recommended that I get my rings soldered together since I got a wrap. I am kinda torn because I don't really want to give up my rings for 3 weeks for them to send them out. But my only concern is they slide around my finger and hit quite often do you think it can damage the rings if I don't get them soldered? Just looking for opinions because if I have to give them up I want to do it soon so I can get them back asap! Your thoughts? TIA Smiley smile

Haha sorry jennifer. i didn't bother to look back at the discussion for a couple minutes. it would probably be safer for you to get your rings soldered because the 18k is softer. you don't want them rubbing together when one is more prone to damage. It just means that your 18k ring will wear faster than your 14k and you will need to get it plated more often. that also means more time your ring has to spend in the store Smiley sad i would definately talk to your jeweler, but i'm sure it wouldn't be a problem to get them soldered.

@Jaime Another question... sorry but you seem so knowledgeable. I got my e-ring and my wedding ring from 2 different jeweler's so would soldering even be an option? Would 1 or both jeweler's refuse to work on my ring and/or would it void the warranties? Plus as far as getting the rhodium redone on the 18k and the redipping on the 14k would that be difficult to do if they are soldered? We really wanted my wedding band to be 14k and match my e-ring but no one offered a 14k band with nice diamonds in it for some reason. I have a channel band with princess cut diamonds in it for my wedding band...

@jennifer Once again i'm really sorry if this is super late. Neither of your jewelers would refuse to solder your rings i'm sure. I purchased my ring at a pawn shop and have had the setting redone at one jeweler and had it resized at another. simply because of my preferences. Most of them understand that we have different tastes and they may not always be able to fufill them. as for warranties I'm not entirely sure. do you have a warranty on both of your rings? I think that it depends on what kind of warranty you have when it comes to whether or not it would be voided. Some warranties only cover the diamonds and sometimes only the center stone. I don't think that joining the bands would affect that. but at the shane company (a jeweler i've worked with) they cover the ENTIRE ring. so that might be sacrificed. I would look into the specifics of both of your warranties and then talk to each of your jewelers. also, if one of the jewelers decides that they are capable of doing it cont...

Without sacrificing your warranty, but the other decides that they will not look at each of your rings and decide which one would probably cost you more if something were to happen. what kind of life style do you have? i'm assuming if you want to to get them soldered in the first place you will be wearing them a lot and know whether or not your going to beat it up. personally if i had to choose i would rather cover my engagement ring because it has more diamonds than my band and of course my center stone would cost a lot more to replace versus a diamond on my band.
