So my fiance and I met with a wedding photographer last night whose pictures are absolutely stunning. He has an eye for art and beauty and knows how to make a scene look gorgeous. Only thing is he was extremely socially awkward. Nice guy but difficult to try to have a conversation with. My fiance doesn't think this is a big deal as a lot of really talented artists are just like that. I'm more on the fence as to if it matters since I've never really posed for pictures and figured someone more social and easy going would help.

Any opinions on how important that is if we really like his photos? Granted he is the first photographer we've met and we have a couple more we'll be meeting, but his photos were our favorites we've seen online so far and his price is right.

You need a photographer that can not only take beautiful pictures, but can manage a crowd and get people to feel at ease in front of the camera. I would look around some more. The first photographer we met had a similar personality. She didn't really talk and I knew it wasn't the right match. I suggest you keep looking.

If you think he was socially awkward, do not book him!! I'm getting married next August but I am also a wedding photographer and being able to connect with wedding guests is an important part of the day. Just imagine trying to get posed shots, it would be a nightmare. Your guests will cooperate a lot better with a photographer that they feel is friendly. I promise that you can find a photographer with just as great quality photos that has a better personality. I made the mistake of hiring another photographer who works for my company, and I'm noticing more and more how stressed out she gets at weddings, and I don't want that at mine. Hopefully, she will be more comfortable at mine. But if I could go back, I'd definitely hire someone outside of my company and someone that I knew would get along with my guests. Good luck to you finding a good photographer. Smiley smile It's definitely one of the most challenging decisions in wedding planning today.

I think the best shots aren't posed.. as far as guests being photographed, but that's just my opinion. I didn't mean to assume he has Aspergers, I realize that's what it sounded like... but that doesn't mean he doesn't. I understand wanting a photographer you can be around all day. I just feel bad for socially awkward people now though..Me being one of them...lol

You have to be comfortable with him. Maybe try him out for engagement photos as a test if you really love his work but the day of the wedding you're going to be depending on him to get your family and bridesmaids in place, and give you ideas on how to pose. I had an awkward person do our engagement photos and the photos were okay, but the whole time we felt so weird. And when you feel awkward it shows in the photos. Maybe he was having an off day or you guys just weren't clicking, but I think you need to feel that connection, especially with an artist.
