Super October 2019

So upset with myself - just venting

Kelly, on July 16, 2019 at 12:32 PM Posted in Planning 0 33
Ugh I could cry.
My FH fathers family is really religious, so we wanted to have some fun with our invite RSVP & give them a nod... so I selected RSVP verbiage that said
___Awe Yay! Drinks are on me!
___I’ll be there in spirit! (Get it drinks, spirit, religion)
We just got the invites & they look great but I’m now super concerned that guest might think it’s a cash bar.

I really can’t justify paying for invites again - and the RSVP cards only are $1.86 per card @ 115 cards adds up.

I don't really get the joke. I would re-order and put "accepts" or "declines with regret". It does sound like a cash bar.

Yeah, unfortunately that’s not an option.

Can you just have guests RSVP online? I don't really get it either. I'm sure you could find cheaper RSVP cards. Zazzle has make your own enclosure cards for as low as $0.23 today.

If I rsvp’d yes and it said that drinks were on me, I would assume that “me” meant the host, and that it’s a cash bar as well. I would just reorder some more that have the traditional options to check off. I also don’t get the joke either.

I think most people would assume you're paying for the alcohol! As PPs suggested, how about doing an online RSVP if you're still concerned?

“I’ll be there in spirit” doesn’t sound religious at all to me and I come from a very religious family so I don’t think this is going to give the vibe you want. I also agree that the yes portion makes it sound like a cash bar.

I don’t get it, honestly, and do you think your in-laws or others will find it offensive? I would seriously consider ordering new ones.

The RSVP cards won’t match the invite. The invitation references the website, but doesn’t say to go there to RSVP so that won’t work either. I have a request in to see if I can purchase just the RSVP w/o the the invites.

Worse case scenario ppl may think it’s a cash bar & will be surprised when it isn’t. Or they may ask me.

I showed my co-worker the RSVP card & he said that he would read it as I’m inviting him to drink & that the drinks are on me. I’m just going to leave it as is, I spent $400 on the invites & under no circumstances can I justify ordering them again.

Guess I am a little lost too. What are you going to do to make them a little clearer? I guess you could write on the outside of the envelope or put in a little note since you are not really trying to redo your invites. Sorry this happened but I bet you can find a way to make it work out =)

It’s disappointing for sure. I’m just going to keep the invites as they are. The invitation say ceremony is followed by cocktail hour & 3 hr lunch reception. Hopefully ppl just select yes or no & return the RSVP without double questioning themselves - unlike what I’m doing.

Most ironic part (IMO) is that I have a large sign that says Booze & I Do’s with arrows pointing in the respective directions as both the reception & cocktail hour are outside & in the tent...

My future in-laws won’t think it’s offensive. Many have already declined saying that they will be there in spirit - they live pretty far.

All of the guests names are online & can RSVP now (they actually could have since the STD were sent). The problem is that the invite doesn’t make it clear enough to RSVP that way...

I would look on Zazzle for a very small enclosure card and business size card that just says "Please RSVP online by XX/XX/19 at www.website.com"! It may cost another $50 but it would be worth it in my opinion. Or even print ones at home that say that.

You could always make it match enough, I've seen plenty of RSVP cards not match 100% and be a different color or way simpler.
