So....late night snacks, is this actually a thing now?

I've never heard of late night snacks at a wedding until the past few days on WW. Is this a thing now? Am I gonna get side-eyed? Because I am NOT prepped to feed people twice.

It's a newer trend, and you definitely won't be side-eyed for not providing them!! I reallllly want to do late night snacks but I'm having a hard time justifying the expense after all of the food for hors d'oeuvres, dinner, and dessert Smiley smile As a guest though - I loooove late night snacks!

A thing, but not necessary. We're having a ton of food and dinner won't end up til 9/9:30, reception is over at 11:30. I don't see the point of more food, but we will have a liquid nitrogen ice cream station to go with cake. I wanted more sweets, but not the standard candy bar/dessert table.

I'm Canadian, my fiance is American so we are having a poutine/chili cheese bar as our late night snack. It is the thing I am most excited about for our wedding. We are doing this because I want to eat poutine on my wedding night, not because anyone expects.

We're doing this, but it's super cheap at our venue as well. Our reception is until 1am, and I know the friends that will stick around that late will want to munch later on in the night (including FH and I).

Not necessary, but it's a fun addition. The Chicago brides and I went to Sharon&Brad's wedding last month. They had a taco bar which was awesome after a lot of drinks and dancing.

We're doing a pancake station and sliders station for ours. It's going to be a long reception and a ton of alcohol, so we want to make sure everyone is well fed.

Most of the weddings I've been to do a midnight buffet. It might be cultural. Almost all the weddings I've ever been to in my life centre around food.

While it's a growing trend it's not expected. I consider it another money-sucker.

LOL.....and considering adults are suppose to adult with their alcohol consumption....which is why dry weddings are unpopular.....the B&G shouldn't have to worry about feeding the guests to balance their alcohol intake. just sayin..lol

I'm from NJ. Most of our venues do an hour and a half of cocktails/hors/stations, then a five or six course dinner and dessert.

I can't even imagine anyone even eating dinner, never mind an after dinner snack. Unless it was a week later.

I've heard of the concept before, but I don't think I've been to a wedding that's had them. I've never wondered, "Where is my late night snack?!"

I don't think they're necessary, but we're doing it because it's already included in our venue's package. The snack the venue provides is a mini Philly cheesesteak bar.

I had never heard of this before WW. With most weddings I have gone to (including my own) the bride and groom are out by 10:00 latest. After my wedding, some guests went out to bars around the venue to keep the celebration going. I just wanted to be alone with my new husband. Everybody understood.

If there would have been dancing at our wedding, we were going to have a local semi-famous taco truck show up at the end of the night for $1k of hours of unlimited tacos. (to replenish the troops)

As it stands now, (eloping) we won't but I think they're a great idea if you have the extra cash. Not required though.

@Katey, less than 2 months to go, I think my invitation got lost in the mail. Just let me know when to show up for the poutine. kthx. Smiley laugh

Maybe it's the time when weddings end. Most weddings I've been to end at 2:00am when alcohol can't be served legally anymore.

You would probably get side-eyed FOR having a late night snack since you're having a cash bar.

See, it's standard where I'm from. But our weddings typically go past mid-night, so people get hungry.

My bad, I misread- you just said you think they are OK. If you were having one but had a late night snack that would just be an odd allocation of money. I apologize for the mistake!

I don't have any problem with cash bars, they're the norm here, but that doesn't mean I'm having one :p

I've never been to a wedding that had a late night snack, most weddings I've been to end around 11:30/12 and I don't remember ever being like "damn, I wish I had a snack right now"

Our wedding is from 3pm-10pm, so no need really for any snacks, but we are having a bonfire afterwards with s'mores.
