So how much boob is too much boob?

Spark, on July 8, 2022 at 6:59 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 27
So I have naturally large breasts and no hips which made wedding dress shopping very very hard. The dress i found shows a lot of cleavage. While it doesn't seem that bad when I'm trying it on, I truly wonder if it's offensive or looks tacky. I know some will look at me and say "it looks great" but I'm not certain they'd tell the truth. Pic below. My boobs require adjustment but you get the gist. Please be honest.

I think it is about what you feel most comfortable with! If you feel like you need more coverage then maybe have the mesh in the middle cover more or you can get a white mesh that is a little more opaque. Also think about dancing and sitting/bending over. If you feel uncomfortable, then you won't have as much fun throughout the night and that is most important!

Thanks. I don't know how I feel. They tried to apply applique but it changed the look of the dress and made it look from matronly.

I tried on dresses with mesh where they said I could order a white rather than nude mesh from the dressmaker rather than a lace applique. That might be less matronly? Alternately, can the dress just be altered so the neckline isn't as low (like just sew it together)? I personally think you look great, but again being comfortable is most important!

It really depends. While you and/or some guests may not see an issue, others will find it offensive. For example, if you are marrying in a house of worship, you would be required to cover all cleavage. Up to and including having a much higher modesty panel added to the dress.

One thing that people almost never do is move around in the dress before purchasing to see if they can sit, dance, bend over, etc without the dress constricting them or falling out of it.
I am also large chested so I completely understand difficulty in finding anything that fits even on a day to day basis. While I have no problem wearing something as revealing as your pictures on date night or a girls’ trip for example, I do not feel even 1% comfortable showing that much skin to the majority of our friends and families.
If you are questioning it at all, then you have legitimate concerns and those need to be addressed. Have you purchased the dress or are you still looking? Go on Google and look for bridal shops in your area that specialize in plus size dresses because they will cover what you need and the rest can be taken in. Call ahead to be sure that they will have dresses in your size range in stock to try on.

Thank you. It truly made the experience so stressful finding something I felt I looked attractive in and I don't mean that because of chest but because it's fitted. Today was alterations appt 1. I'll see how next appt goes.

Thanks!!! Good tip to dance/ sit test.
I want to look good but when I cover up it just doesn't look as good to me. I'm a plain Jane so this is a different look for sure and what others will expect. I hate direct attention so I'm dreading that. I know that sounds odd but I want someone to say she looks beautiful. Not she looks pretty but her boobs are on display. But you're right, if I'm thinking it.... I'm just trying to surprise my fiance and this is the only dress I felt good in. I tried on a lot!

It is a gorgeous dress and if you feel beautiful in it unlike the others you have tried on, that’s all that matters. Make sure that the dress is something you don’t want to take off before you decide to buy it.

Go with what you're comfortable. You were attracted to this dress for a reason and it could be the deep V gives great lines to your shape. A wedding is meant to be romantic and between 2 people. If you want to look sexy for your FS, you have every right. Others are there to share in your joy, not sway your decisions. If you do have a church wedding, you could add a topper.

I think your pictures are far zoomed in to give real perspective. The dress should be fitted to your body so it does not move to the point of nip slips. You have been living in that body for some time now. No need to be shy about who you are now.

Are we sharing booby-friendly pics? Here's my fav cleavage and lashes shot. The V went down to almost my navel.

Btw, I checked my dress, and it still does have the horse hair trim. They moved the appliques down to the edge.

I'm personally not a fan of deep v's and it think the dresses the last few years that have the deep v's with the see through paneling are atrocious. So it's not something I would personally wear. Consider what you typically would wear on a big night out and what your venue is. Is this your typical style? Will you feel comfortable in it or will you be constantly adjusting yourself? To me, this is fine and appropriate for secular venues. For a church or religious wedding it's too much and inappropriate.

The sample of my dress had a deep v with a mesh paneling, but I'm definitely not comfortable with it for church/ around family. The consultant said they could order the dress with a higher/ shallower v, and I ended up just ordering it with the two sides of the v together through where the top of the mesh would have sat. They basically closed the v, if that makes sense.

I'm sure your alterations expert could help you find a way to bring the v closer or do some kind of paneling if you're not comfortable with the way it is now. But if you're comfortable with it then that's all that matters Smiley smile

I agree a big no for church but we aren't marrying in church (there's divorce). In this case, its a different vibe. I can't stress enough how painful it was to dress shop. Being smaller framed with large bust makes it very difficult. Most dresses, for example full skirt, made me look bigger than I am. While cleavage is typically fine on a night out, it's usually not with family around so this is where I feel a bit uncomfortable. Thanks!

Thanks! Do you have picture of original vs modified? You don't have to be in it. Just curious on how or if it altered the look. I didn't realize how trendy gowns are. I wanted something more traditional believe it or not. I was not pleased with inventory that most stores near me carried. On average, there was only 3 dresses from each store available from my list or on there website for me to try on. I didn't want to travel or make a big trip (3 to 5 hrs) to dress shop.
