So happy we decided to do this...

We are 15 days out from our wedding and had the meeting with our DOC (day of coordinator) last night which went so good! Talking with her last night to go over the details as to what we want, when we want it to happen, and then all our vendors, actually went better and was a lot easier than I imagined it would be. I have to send her over all our contracts and paperwork for all our vendors, and then she will be reaching out to them to finalize details and the day of timeline, but as we were going over everything the weight of all the stress I have been carrying for months got lifted off and taken away. Oh wow, such relief and calmness came over me and even my FH saw the instant change in my mood!
I am so beyond happy that we decided to hire a DOC, as it is already well worth it because of her being able to just melt away the stress. My advice (if it can fit in your budget of course), do the research, check their reviews and how they handle the workload to make sure you get quality work you are wanting let alone paying for because in the end it is worth it for you to have the stress free and best wedding day you could ever imagine!

Omg I hear you! Our DOC was just incredibly invaluable! She did so much for us leading up to the wedding and on our wedding day. Everything so perfectly!

I initially wasn't going to hire a DOC, though after realizing that we need help with tear down (and hearing from so many brides on these forums about how their DOC was super helpful to have), we ended up booking one a couple months ago. Glad to hear that your DOC has made things less stressful for you!

Thank you so much for this helpful review! I am a super planner and micromanager by nature, so I have been enjoying planning every little detail myself. I’ve been wondering lately if a DOC would be a good idea though, just to ensure things go as scheduled with minimal stress/effort from me the day of our wedding.

I just booked my DOC this morning! I originally was going to skip it because I'm Type A and we're doing a small destination wedding. My thinking was "oh, some of the guy friends who don't need as much time to get dressed can hang out on the beach with lawn games and meet the rental company" (keep reading, I promise I changed my mind).

I was actually talking to a friend who is in a wedding next weekend and she doesn't have a DOC so each bridesmaid (she didn't pick a MOH) has a "job" and my friend's is the "oh-s*** handler". For them it seems to be working because all the BMs are fine with it and that's awesome for them, but I was SHOCKED when I heard. So then that led to thinking "okay, why is it shocking that they asked her to be the oh-s*** handler but you were going to ask your friends to meet your rental company for set up?". So, here we are. I hired a DOC!

The one I went with is a DREAM. She wanted to fill the niche for an intimate wedding DOC, and focuses her efforts on styling and coordination and doesn't actually offer a full service package. We were also able to customize our package! We won't need a full 8-10 hours of her time for our wedding as our reception is at a restaurant after our beach ceremony (no dancing, no scheduled activities or games, just good food and flowing wine), so she's actually going to go scope out our venue for us (we're in Kansas and we're getting married in California) and work directly with my rental company to pick the perfect place for them to set up!

All that to say, I am SO excited I broke down and hired one.

I think a DOC is the perfect balance for that! You get to pick everything you want, and they'll provide some vendor recommendations for the pieces you're missing, but this way you get to be a guest at your own wedding instead of picking up your flowers on the way to your own wedding or worrying if Aunt Suzie got the chairs set up exactly the way you asked while you were curling your hair, you know?
