So bummed: Davids Bridal doesn't sell my color

Smooches35, on August 24, 2013 at 6:37 PM Posted in Planning 0 18

Went to Davids bridal to get swatches in my color ( teal, light yellow (canary) and ivory) and they had the canary but no teal the closes they offered was pool and it's a Tiffany blue. Everything else was either too blue or too green. The Tiffany blue is cute with the yellow but I wish it was a tad bit greener. On their website they offered a color called Mermaid which was perfect but I was told it was no longer available Smiley sad. I was wondering should I continue looking or quit. My hubby and kids love it but I'm at odds. Maybe if I see the bridesmaids in dresses in the pool color with yellow sashes maybe I will see what everyone else sees. What do you guys think?

I'm having the same issue. I don't want tiffany blue, I want a true teal...we've got time to plan, so I'm continuing the search. DB has had pool for forever so it's not going anywhere and can be a back-up.

@ Jen...Future Mrs. F! I'm glad someone understands. The pool and canary is pretty and the ivory brings it out but I really liked the teal. I do have time so maybe this may grow on me.

I found a website with dresses that you can order swatches for free and then when it comes time to the dresses you can pay $10 to have it shipped to your house to try on and they give you the return shipping materials. That way you don't have to order blindly. I got 7 free swatches, I haven't done the trying on part yet though. Here's the website, hope it helps!

And they appear to have teal :-) You've got plenty of time though, don't just settle!

I would wait seeing your wedding is far out. I had the same problem I wanted peach and mint I ended up having to go with a local bridal store.

Is there a reason you have to use DB? Try looking at Alfred Angelo, they have some really pretty colors too.

When you said you wanted the dress one color and the sash another, I immediately thought of my BM dresses. It's Alfred Angelo style 7122. I didn't see much at DB that could be two-toned.

Have you tried DB for the color Oasis (it'sa dark tourqoise)? My colors are canary, guava, and oasis. All of my Bridesmaids dresses are Oasis and Everyone loves the color.

I do! Our colors are teal, navy, ivory and hints of blush pink. I need the right teal though, so I'm searching! I looked at Alfred Angelo and they didn't have anything closer. I've been looking at Dessy and they might, I need to go see them in person though.

Try Alfred Angelo! They don't have exactly those color names, but they have some light yellows and some teals.

You also might want to wait until the end of the year: DB changes up their "seasonal" colors twice a year: in December and like May or June, when they put out their new catalogs. Mermaid or a similar color may come back in during that time frame, and since your wedding isn't until 2015, you have plenty of time to look!

Thanks everyone I think I'm going to wait. Unfortunately, my husband is in love with the pool, ugh, lol. But we will see.

Yeah, that's what kinda sucks about David's Bridal, their colors really aren't that great. Their prices are, and they have some nice styles, but the colors are kind of dull and bland sometimes.

I second DB's color Oasis. I actually love it! We're doing the oasis, with yellow and chocolate and the BMs dress is in the oasis. It's pretty darn close to an actual teal (which is kind of subjective anyway since there's like a million shades of "teal" that I've seen) and looks great with the yellow. Here's a picture of a satin BM dress in oasis. It looks more blue in the picture because of my mom's flash, so I'll add a picture of the color swatch I have as well.
