So....anyone having an Elvis impersonator at their reception??

Monica SC, on September 14, 2014 at 6:27 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 10

One of my favorite slow-type dance songs is Fools Rush In. I thought about playing it as our first dance song at the reception. We have quite a few different Elvis impersonators that I have seen at different outdoor festivals, etc. So....I got to thinking....what if! I contacted quite a few and they were very reasonable. I settled on one that will charge $200 to sing 3-4 songs, pass out some leis and pose for as many picture as we want. I want to keep it 100% secret so that when the song starts people will just think it's the DJ playing the song until he steps out. Smiley smile

My friend used to joke that if she ever got married, she was going to do it in Vegas and have an Elvis marry her. So when she finally did get married, her Mom secretly hired an Elvis impersonator to show up at the reception. It was hysterical.

This could be cute but this could easily go into kitschy county fair territory. IMO, this would make me a little uncomfortable, I don't like gimmicky things at weddings (cutesy games, brides singing/dancing for their new husbands, anything pinterest says is a good idea) I think they are better for birthday parties. I would avoid anything that might make your guests feel trapped and forced to watch.
