So ok, with all of this talk about Pretty Princess Days, I'm starting to wonder... am I having a PPD? So ok, with all of this talk about Pretty Princess Days, I'm starting to wonder... am I having a PPD? Our officiant is actually not licensed in Georgia to perform ceremonies (I'll spare you the details of how that works). But he is FH's uncle who baptized him and its really special to us. So the morning before our wedding, we will get legally married by a minister friend, just the two of us, our parents, and siblings. Then during our big ceremony, FH uncle will say "by the power vested in me by the Holy Spirit and since the requirements of the state of Georgia have already been fulfilled, I now pronounce you husband and wife." (Something along those lines!) So, we're being honest, it's going to be on the same day, and it's simply a logistics issue. Am I having a PPD?

I must have missed the thread yesterday, I really have no idea what a PPD is

BUT I think what you're doing is totally fine and not crazy or abnormal or anything like that!

The first time I ever heard about the PPD was yesterday's post, but I really hate it. Don't worry, dear, you are definitely NOT having a PPD. You deserve to have your wedding called a wedding Smiley smile

I've been in this 'business' for almost 30 years (ouch, that hurts) and the first time I heard this term was yesterday. I want it to go away. It's gross. It sounds like something the mean girls in high school coined.

    Lady Crystal,

I think you already know this, but in no way, shape, or form are you doing a PPD. Your wedding celebration is simply lasting two days, and actually, I think lots of brides would love to make it a two day event.

Not at all! I agree with previous posters, PPD is a silly term. In Pennsylvania, marriage licenses can only come from the government (that's a whole other argument, for another time) so technically, everyone is "legally married" by some lady at the counter in the court records department and most churches just require you bring it with you to your rehearsal dinner. I highly doubt people aren't going to church weddings out of protest all over the state because they'd rather show up at the courthouse to watch people in jeans sign some paperwork.

I don't think so since everything is the same day and you're not lying to your guests. It would be better to have has the wedding where his uncle could have legally officiated but otherwise your reasoning isn't selfish or entitled making it a okay in my book

Who gives a flying crap if someone wants to do their ceremony twice or three or four times?!? If the guests don't like it, they don't have to go.

I don't understand why anyone should think they need validation for the celebration they choose to have. Saying there are stipulations or time limits, its complete BS.

You deserve to do exactly what you want. PPD is so ignorant and rude.

IMO you came up with an awesome solution to what could have turned out to be a disappointing nightmare. I love this.

I hate that term. Never heard of it until I found this board and one other particular wedding board.

Who cares if someone else thinks it is or is not "okay in their book?" Lol none of the people on these boards will be there on your day. People that will be present will be people that are important to you and your fiancé and that is what is important.

I seriously thought this post was going to be about postpartum depression and I was so ready to help. Hah.

So, I'm pretty late to the party. PPD sounds like a dumb term.

I'm British, I have no clue what the big deal about having a 'PPD' is there are many things that we do differently over here.
