Snake on my doorknob!

Kitty Katy, on July 3, 2010 at 1:48 AM Posted in Planning 0 21

I've been terrified of snakes my whole life. When I was 5 I had dreams where snakes started to come out of candles I was blowing out. I jump if I just jump on something soft while walking.

I got home today and and reached for the doorknob and felt something squishy and moving. There was a snake on the doorknob! I jumped back like a hundred feet and called FS shaking and crying because, amazingly, nobody in the house heard me scream and I was standing out in the rain scared to go any where near the door. he helped me calm down and I called my sister who came out and turned on the light for me to make sure the snake wasn't any where.

I can't stop shaking FS and sister keep telling me I'm over reacting.

but THERE WAS A SNAKE ON MY DOORKNOB!

Doorknobs can be sneaky. I haven't reached the point of fearing them yet though lol If there was a snake on MY doorknob, that would probably be a different story

I am sooo afraid of snakes as well. When I read your title to your post I had to read it just because I couldent believe it! How in the world did it get up there? Gosh, guess everything I thought I knew about them was wrong! I was at a friends grad party the other day and I know he breads them, but I didn't think he would bring one down. :/ I almost passed out! He even named it after the nickname he's given me. I feel you on this snake thing! I hate them!

I never thought I'd find one on a doorknob either. I can't wait tell I live somewhere where snakes aren't a normal thing thing.

As someone on the opposite end of the spectrum (we have a pet snake), the snake was probably just trying to find a relatively warm (since it's on the wall going into a warm house) and dry place to spend the night. Snakes aren't aggressive unless provoked - most of the time they will either sit still in hopes you don't see them or run away. You may get snapped at in hopes that you'll back away long enough for them to run, but that's only if they're backed into a corner. I've heard of snakes wrapped around doorknobs before. And I don't think you can avoid snakes unless you go up to very cold parts. Like tundra cold. They exist just about everywhere, but the further away from the equator you get the fewer varieties you have. I know they can be scary and kind of creepy to some (I mean, hey, I can't even look at pictures of spiders without freaking out, so I understand) but they aren't malicious at all! Just like any other animal, if you think about it from their perspective, they're scared

A snake (dreams of) represents dealing with hidden fears...it also represents new beginnings and facing the fears that go along with that...it might be a personal totem for you and in many cultures are good luck....

Oh holy crap, I'm not too worried about snakes, but touching any living thing on my doorknob would freak me out... especially something that bites!

This post really made me want to say "There's a snake in my boots!" On a more serious note, I would have died.

Yup, not even going near my doorknobs now.

And I'm betting the snake/candle dreams were more like...the smoke looks like snakes when you blow it out. Add that to your already present fears and overactive imagination as a child, and voila!

They freak me out too. I could have probably been okay, if I just saw it, and there was a back entrance into the house...but actually reaching for the doorknob and touching it before I saw it...I'd run screaming. I hate when I accidentally touch anything creepy/crawly and icky.

The day I moved into this neighborhood (in May), the neighbor greeted us and immediately warned us that she saw a snake for the first time in this area that day. Yeah, welcome to the neighborhood Smiley tongue I wouldn't walk near the grass for weeks.

DKS yes I did see it. it was a about 3-4 feet long black rat snake. I know rat snakes are harmless but still it was a snake. and we also have a lot of copper heads and pygmy rattlers out were i live, if it had of been one of those i would have run to my car and not come back for at least a few days Smiley tongue
