S’mores Station Help!

QueenOfTheFall86, on August 13, 2018 at 12:02 PM Posted in Planning 0 11
So we are roughly 26 days out. I met Friday with my venue who JUST NOW decided to tell me we can’t do s’mores @ the fire pit area. I made s’mores jars for favors and planned a s’mores station. I’m super bummed. However I looked up DIY s’mores bar, bought the big metal tin and rocks... now I am searching for the safest heat source. Is anyone doing this or has anyone done this!? Because from my research regular STERNO tins aren’t good to cook food over. Sterno makes specific ones for s’mores but I have no idea where to find them except to order online. I’ve looked at Super Walmart, Bass Pro Shops, etc. YouTube there is a video and the lady uses ones from the dollar store but those were the ones i read are harmful. Can anyone make suggestions??

Before you go to far into this, if the venue wont allow smores at their fire pit, will they even allow you to bring your own fire source?

She contradicted herself. She said no open flames but then said another couple wanted to do s’mores and they’re doing the diy s’mores station too. And I said the sternos would be okay? And she said yeah outside it’s fine. But then told me I couldn’t do votive candles either 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

I am doing a smores bar as well. Im using ethanol sterno, those are food safe. Its the older methanol ones that are not. You can get ethanol sterno from pretty much everywhere, we are using these from amazon, theyre specifically made for smores to be made over them so they dont have flar ups when marshmellows drip onto them.

Were putting them in a bunch of sand inside a rectangular box my FH made from regular plywood.

I would get it in writing that the smores bar was approved or record her saying it over the phone just to be sure....

I went to a baby shower where they did the sterno s'mores bar and it didn't really work very well. Marshmellows didn't toast -- or took so long no one was willing to wait. Be sure you test your options well.

Yes those are the ones I want to find but I guess I have to order them because I can’t find them “in store”.

She said the fire pits are gas and she doesn’t want marshmallows dripping into them and ruining it. Then the no flame thing was for the inside because the whole winery is made of wood. But our reception is outside under a tent

Will this person be there? How are you going to stop people from putting their smores in the firepit?

I wrote it on my s’mores sign and once they see the sterno box set up on the s’mores table it would be common sense not to.

The metal tin I got can hold 3 sternos so it shouldn’t be a horrible wait in line. I honestly don’t think many people will do it but ya never know.
