Small wedding: Are RSVP's pointless?

My wedding only has an 80 person guest list...and that includes everyone getting a "plus one". At this point, I'm trying to shave costs a little, and with all of these "I'm not getting my rsvp's back" posts, I'm starting to think they are just super pointless. At this point, I'm trying to shave costs a little, and with all of these "I'm not getting my rsvp's back" posts, I'm starting to think they are just super pointless. I'm trying to think of ways to shave costs, and I think that eliminating the traditional "rsvp" would be a good way to do that. Hell, I could start a Facebook chat with everyone on our guest list and just have them rsvp that way (tacky, I know...but super efficient because I can see who has seen the message and who hasn't).

What do y'all think?

RSVPs do get returned. We always here about the annoying stragglers who don't respond (there will be some) but the vast majority of them do get retuned in time, for most people. I would do traditional paper RSVPs.

We invited 87 guest. I used my WW website for RSVPs. I still had to chase some people down via FB, text or call, but it wasn't so bad.

We didn't do the RSVP card. Just noted our phone numbers for them to call to RSVP. I don't care if they RSVP or not to be honest with you. Ours is so tiny it won't matter if extras show up or someone doesn't.

Thanks for everyone's input! I think I'll go the traditional route for the fun of it. Apparently I won't save much money if I don't. It would save me about $50-$100 including postage with the type of invite I'm getting, but it's all good! I don't think online rsvp's are tacky...especially these days.
