Small, intimate, No Dj, 1st dance?

Maddi, on January 16, 2020 at 12:11 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5
Small, intimate reception after the ceremony, all same place, on the beach. Guest list 50 assuming 25 may show. Seems too small for a DJ & I don't think a DJ would fit my vision, but I really didn't want to skip out on our 1st dance & definitely want music for the ceremony and in the background for dinner & drinks. How did you all do it?!?!??

You could just get a wireless speaker and have a playlist going, and then have a guest or family member announce when the first dance is happening and the speeches if you’re having them.

We're in the same boat. Paying 800 for a DJ for only 20 guests, not in the cards for us. So we hired a violinist and guitarist to play for our ceremony. Then they're also playing our first dance on the beach, the wife will play the guitar and sing. The other option was for us to buy a portable battery operated speaker from best buy, then we'd have it forever. But I'm worried you won't hear it as well over the waves and wind unless you spend the extra money for a lot of watts. Then I have no idea who would control the music. We felt bad to give one of our guests a job, even though nobody would mind. So we opted for the live music. It fit the budget better for us anyways

We did a playlist through Amazon and had wireless speakers. Worked great for us.

Yeah, so we'll have our officiant do the announcing. Then since I won't have time to bustle my dress, I'm just using the wrist strap for the time being. We're also having a beverage tub on the beach with a variety of drinks for our guests. We want to keep them comfortable in case its hot during all of this
